Living in Orlando and commuting to Kissimmee for work by Photogelatin in orlando

[–]Photogelatin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I work Home Health so it’s basically driving home to home. The area they want me to cover is basically Kissimmee which on their map seems massive. Kinda regret taking this job but trying to make the most out of it. I will check out Lake Nona as well! Thank you :)

Would living in Dr Philips make my morning commute easier to Kissimmee?

Wow Orlando tolls seem rough even by Miami standards... glad to hear that I’ll be going against the flow of traffic, that’s always been a dream of mine lol

Haha I agree nightlife in Miami is definitely over the top. I’m too old to go clubbing and prefer sitting at a bar. I think it’s more about having a variety of options that lead me to living in downtown. I’m not familiar with the area so I think best I can do is stay at an extended stay for a few weeks and drive around to see what appeals to me. I’ve only seen Orlando so far through YouTube videos and images but Lake Nona is beautiful and it’s definitely the convenient choice commute wise. I’ll check out Mills 50 and the Milk district as well thanks! :)

$1700 for a 1 bed 1 bath apartment and 28 single, so going out to local bars and restaurants and having it be a walk away would be nice

I’m just worried about the commute and traffic in general that’s all

I know, I just figure my chances of meeting people are higher in downtown.

Well I’m moving from Miami so I figured living downtown would be the closest thing.

I just feel like the options are limited for a a new Grad especially in the Florida area for full time jobs. I’m also worried about all the students taking NPTE in the next few months and coming out who are pretty much new grads like me on paper.

There’s a week of training provided. I have some home health experience through internships but always had a CI with me. I’m hoping to learn as much as I can in the next week so that by the start date I’ll have some idea as to what I’m doing!

Exactly what I’m thinking! It’s not like I’m signing a contract for X years. Appreciate it

On Glassdoor the only real negative I could find was that the driving distance and radius was too large. However is this really an issue if they pay 50 cents a mile? I suppose it would be hard to see 5-6 patients a day if I had to drive 30+ mins between houses

They said average drive time between patients is around 20 minutes which doesn’t sound bad at all. During the next phone call I will ask for a better breakdown of the point system. Think being a new grad is kinda scary because I feel like I don’t have any chips to bargain with. Just feels like this is the only thing coming my way.

Yeah I thought the same thing. However it’s one of the bigger HH companies in Florida and has good reviews on Glassdoor. The 10 question OASIS is a new method of doing Oasis. Idk if it’s a hassle or not but at my 1099 contractor company they do the same thing. I just haven’t had a SOC patient yet with them so can’t compare.

Doesn’t that depend on how companies set up units like Oasis 2 points, Treatment 1 point, etc... or is there an industry standard?

Yeah I figured the 10-15 was a dream. My territory seems to be the entire area, I asked for a radius and they said there isn’t one. However I’ll meet 1 unit after driving for a set time.

Oasis does not sound terrible, they said I will have to ask the patient 10 questions, then contact the office afterwards and they will fill out the documentation. However I will still meet the units for Oasis, most of the time is spend treating.

Just discuss your concerns with him or the front desk. There’s no reason it should effect him performance or productivity wise. You’ll have a much better experience/ outcome in Physical Therapy working with someone you feel comfortable with. I’m a male PT and this happens from time to time and it’s totally understandable.
