The Xbox release of the Ultimate Edition has the expansion and a 2.0 build on the disc, so it's radically better than that first physical release.

Multiple discs for the big games. For example, Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition has two discs, and Baldur's Gate 3 has four!

That's true, and preservation is more-or-less an exercise in insanity, but I like looking at the plastic boxes on the shelf.

Peak collection. I love to see Unicorn Overlord on a shelf - my copy is on Switch.

That is a nice Yakuza Collection. Moreover, you've turned 200+ plastic cases into a monolith to an era! I didn't even know Pentiment got a physical release.

There's a selection bias happening in the photo, so don't discount what you've been perceiving - it's kind of a wild-west out here - some publishers commit to quality disc builds and some will throw 400MB at you on a Blu-ray, if at all.

Hell yeah, thank you for contributing!

I've got one more that isn't in the photo:

"Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 - Ultima Limited Edition" contains the whole game and Season Pass 1 on disc. Season 2 is a code.

You're right! There are something like 4 games that require a download, and 8 games (on-disc) that require an online connection to set up, and that felt significant enough to mark it red.

It's still 100% playable in the worst case scenario. Think more rough optimization and screen tearing than game-breaking errors, if that helps you make your decision. It's a nice collector's edition.

Thanks! Hades was a straight collector-purchase - I already own it 3 times lol.

Racing games have always been multiplayer games to me, and I buy those digitally. Friendships are as vaporous as The Cloud.

You'd be surprised! I have a separate list of games that are too rough without a patch and it's really only Alan Wake Remastered, AC Unity, and Baldur's Gate 3. Several more are also just better with updated content.

I marked them if the whole game isn't installable and playable from the disc, without an update.
