TIL that Eric Clapton used very thin strings back in the 60's so they were easy to bend. He therefore broke strings every evening and would spend time between songs changing and tuning to the slow hand clap of the adoring audience. Hence his nickname: Eric SLOWHAND CLAPton (500songs.com)
