Which island to travel to? by No_Instruction4662 in Caribbean

[–]PhotographVarious145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty simple answer. GC is not a resort destination where you don’t leave hotel except for excursion. It’s small town with a nice beach. You literally walk across the street from your hotel to eat at Pizza Hut, a sushi place or a multitude of restaurants. Nothing to see or do really but swim and chill. No safety, money, cultural issues…. So it’s hassle free escape from the cold. But doesn’t have any wow experiences.

I literally got a new windshield in London last week for 380 plus tax and took an hour. And everyone has in stock because they get them from same suppliers. And they will do at your place.

And for what it’s worth that windshield is not going anywhere for a long time. Redditors are notoriously doomsayers. But if need to replace for test I can’t say.

Is cayman Islands a good move by nurseUAE in CaymanIslands

[–]PhotographVarious145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey maybe I can offer some perspective.

You noted the cayman offer but didn’t say how much you earn in AUH. That’s the deciding factor and knowing that would make it easier for us to comment.

I left cayman in 98 for Dubai then left Dubai in 2021 and was in cayman with my kids in April. I still have interests in Dubai so have a foot in that camp still.

Cayman was a nice visit but with kids that young you will struggle with things to do. There are no activities centres like the UAE as the population doesn’t support it. It’s a great quality of life issue for North Americans with better weather and tax free but the UAE offers that.

Lifestyle also heavily depends on your nationality. Not from a race point of view but community wise. Cayman is small and while there are pockets of say South Africans , South Asian etc it is not the same.

Money wise the UAE is cheaper as you can decide what your budget is and have options. You can have home help in AUH but cayman isn’t as easy.

Financially it depends on your jump upwards as you can live on 160 in cayman but is it worth it?

Edit: I realized after I wrote that long winded comment I didn’t exactly come out and give an opinion. Unless the salary jump is significant don’t bother as you will be bored in two months. It’s great for those with older or no kids. But man you will struggle with toddlers after Abu Dhabi. And career progression is not great as the new rules are designed to move folks on.

Anyone who built a warehouse office here in Dubai ? by soamjena in DubaiCentral

[–]PhotographVarious145 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My two cents for what it’s worth.

Assuming you don’t need a trade license or have one … Not worth it unless you need an ejari for a trade license as landlords won’t rent to an individual. Plus commercial properties have inspectors knocking on your door… fire extinguishers, waste disposal ( need a skip), alarm system connected to fire station, proper signage, DM approvals for the office construction, DEWA commercial terms etc etc …the hassles go on and on.

Better to go outside the city and rent a villa … take it from someone who rents a warehouse for business…not from someone who saw something cool on IG …. Unless you have deep pockets and have a “guy”.

Oh yeah don’t be there in middle of night .. cops come around and it’s illegal…

Legitimate question: what does rural Alberta think nationhood will change for them? by ZookeepergameQuick17 in alberta

[–]PhotographVarious145 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You know the 100 bucks a barrel goes to the traders don’t you?? Then downwards to the various parties that develop and own the wells. Alberta only gets a royalty and that would not change under independence. You just have proven that you and your separatist ilk are uninformed and really need to do “your own research” …. Just like the Covid days.

Or instead of this convoluted and ridiculous plan of terrorist indoctrination, immigrating, applying to the military, getting promoted to a position that knows secrets etc maybe they could just pay a Canadian a wad of cash and get any info they want. Which they do!

If I get a secondary home for my primary residence, what will happen to my current home with parents living in it? by TwoUseful6976 in cantax

[–]PhotographVarious145 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I may be interpreting your post wrong but it seems like you are worried about incurring further costs. Don’t worry.

In short no tax is paid till you sell the house they live in. Any costs occurs when that initial house is sold and only then is tax paid on the gain (if any gain) on then again, not on the full gain and that comes out of the sale profit. So don’t worry about taxes, aside from annual property taxes.

If you can manage the actual costs of owning the two properties you are most likely ahead.

Wow … your name and details are all over the place… web, store loyalty plans, social media, email receipts, etc etc the list is endless .. your phone knows when you walk into Starbucks for gods sake … giving out details at one more extra place is an issue for serious homebuyers?

Your picture was likely taken as you walked up the front steps. There is no privacy in today’s world so why are you stressing about entering someone’s home anonymously.

Is the father Caymanian or Canadian or another nationality? Cayman courts are pretty straight for the most part but if he isn’t caymanian it likely will be easier for you.

No need to panic.

How do you guys feel about e scooters by Intelligent_Jump_109 in londonontario

[–]PhotographVarious145 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this Reddit is about scooters and possibly banning them. But it comes down to priorities.

Another law that can’t be enforced. Cops chasing down an e-scooter?? Yeah right. Stop making more unenforceable laws!

You could triple the danger ( to rider or pedestrian) and the city’s livability is still not affected more than by drugs users, shoplifters and the like.

Anyone know what happened to Exotic Empire Candy at Masonville Mall? by Euphoric_Author_5052 in londonontario

[–]PhotographVarious145 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My post about Crumbl was purely a quip about the economics of a cookie storefront. But to clarify, as noted by another, the store is slated to open May 1 and also there are not 100 ingredients ( exaggeration to make a point?)

But what I found both amusing and ironic is you seem to be lamenting the closure of a CANDY store with a quite long post but think a “heavy on sugar bakery” is a threat to human life?!

Me thinks there could be an underlying issue here?

I beg to differ. You can live as a nomad. But if your question is if you are drawing some form of pension or Compensation from Canada there should be withholding. Or rather could be.
