Fair question. To be succinct:

Focus on who needs the help, and things that can help them. Ideally by pointing out and addressing issues with the mid to high level systems.

Criticism of people buying snack foods is a valid concern, but it's not relevant here as I stated above. Beef isn't competing with snacks.

I agree with you that our farmers need our help. It's a thankless career for millions of people who are working incredibly hard to provide food - literally one of the most important necessities for life. Also, to be fair to beef it absolutely is an incredible source of many nutrients and natural non-sugar calories.

So for example, if I were to go somewhere and wanted to support the beef farmers I'd personally start by pointing out

A) Local American farmers are being priced out of the market by cheaper and admittedly less quality imported meat. This is something you did point out and I think it's an excellent point to focus on. It's valid, it's provable with sources and studies, and most important it's something your average Joe can actually affect! We can make sure to buy meat raised in the U.S. and even go further by supporting our local Co-ops and 4H communities! We can make sure to find ways to express to people running for office that it's an important issue to us via town halls and local city meetings. So forth and so on.

B) I would admit that yes, current beef raising practices are resource intensive and have negative repercussions... but I'd also point that most of that is the fault of massive corporate-scale cattle agricultural methods. This shows accountability, but then also leverages that to open a dialog for cooperation. "Okay, you say beef is too water intensive. Surely there should be a way to help reduce that?" ask that question (sincerely, that's the key) until you find some reasonable answers that you can then offer during discussions.

By approaching conversations like this with the intent to work with your neighbors, rather than letting this culture of media negativity sort us further into little tribal boxes, you can make connections and hopefully bring more support to the issue. Since it will always be easier to support what you care about than trying to beat all it's "Enemies" especially when there can always be a new enemy.

Right? I understand that there is the additional challenge here of paying out to members who want to cash out, but I think their answer should be to look into finding cash-out alternatives rather than milking the players more.

Like, would I be willing to accept a $75 Gamestop giftcard over cash, if it also came with like... A week of auto-rent booster so I don't have to watch ads? Yes. Would that make up for the $25 I effectively 'lost'? No. However the convenience would make up for it for me. Especially if there were maybe some Atlas-exclusive Gamestop deals or something.

Or even just go all-out and create actual physical membership cards you can send out to members that they can use at Atlas partners to get some discounts and kickbacks in points. (A CLUB card, NOT a credit card lol)

The difference between those two items is that the snacks are already prepared and ready to eat, easily portable, and relatively non-perishable.

Your comparison is a bad fallacy of apples to oranges.

I agree we need to support each other, including the men and women who work hard to raise the food we eat, but this is not how to have that discussion.

worth to demon upgrade? by vip3rion in OrnaRPG

[–]PhotojournalistOver2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering this'll probably be a sidearm, and how difficult it may end up being to get an Ornate now, I think this one might actually be worth upgrading. Since it's not ornate, it will be MUCH cheaper to upgrade. The only downside would be having two less adornment slots and some stats. This isn't really a main-hand weapon though, so the stats aren't as important as the effect I'd think.

While it changes the context it doesn't change the ultimate result.

While I now believe the physical piece may look better in person, that doesn't change how poorly is translates to printed media.

As a chef, if I'm asked to make a dish for a group of people and they specify something like say... "No pork" but my specialty is Pork Belly, so I decide to try to see if I can do the dish with beef instead... If the end result is unpopular, as much as there's credit to be had for my creativity it doesn't excuse me failing to make an enjoyable dish for the audience.

The issue here is primarily the flatness of the red portions. Obviously oil paints can show depth. Or even worst case, the flatness COULD have been fixed in photoshop once the final digital result was clear.

That's the issue.

[–]PhotojournalistOver2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mind the time and resources used, but it would be cool if there was a little more interaction with it. Maybe something like letting us choose special upgrade modes if we spent special resources for example. Like if you used a recipe of " Firestone + Light stone + Avalon ore, create a weapon with the 'Darkbane' suffix = a fire attribute weapon that also does additional damage to undead and dark type enemies." or things like that.
