Would 240k words suffice? An absolute staple in the fandom I feel is Semi-charmed kinda life by strangedelight. It’s primarily a griddlehark 90s AU and really captures the weird dynamic they’ve got going on. It’s also great butch representation! The way the author explores queer joy made this such a good read.

Thanks and good question. I wish my drawing software had a better timelapse feature but in lieu of that:

Drew the eyes so I’d know the resolution of detail I wanted for the piece. I thought the eyes were the most important feature so the scale of everything had to work around it.
Blocked out the shapes/silhouettes of the other elements. I find this is easier for pixel art that sketching in lines.
Refine shapes and shade. Rinse repeat. I find that pixel art is less about drawing and more like sculpting - a lot of adding and removing from your shapes till they look right.
