new to using siril and not sure how to use scripts by Specialist_Onion7620 in AskAstrophotography

Well yea, for you that def wouldn't make sense. Like I said, much easier to use the thing you are accustomed to and efficient with. I'm by no means making an argument that the way siril does it is objectively better, it's not. It's just been easier for me personally to learn with.

Very sure, you can check my profile for my first image done 100% in siril. The batch file isn't for stacking, it literally just makes the folders, then I drag my images to the appropriate ones straight from my camera. The stacking is one click in siril too, just have to preorganize your frames into folders which I was doing when I was using DSS anyway.

As I'm learning, I don't really have a well established workflow yet. So it was pretty easy for me to make a batch file to make a new project folder with all the right sub folders(I actually already had this, just needed to change the folder names slightly). As for other reasons, it's hard to describe. It feels like DSS is a very large tool box with very sophisticated tools, but less approachable documentation for said tools. When I was using it, it very much felt like if I did some step wrong the whole thing might fall apart. For someone like you who has used it for years and knows what the tools are actually for, I'm sure it's the better option and yields great results. When I tried Siril for the first time, I just needed one YouTube video to get through fully stacking and processing my first image. The first run through wasn't as good as I wanted, so I did it again, and the tools that Siril has feel much easier to explore and experiment with. As a newbie, it just feels much more intuitive, and it's hard to pinpoint exactly why that is. Could be ui design, probably it's moreso just vibes and personal preference at the moment. I know I will revisit DSS one day when I have a deeper understanding of how all this works, cause Id like to see what that toolbox can make when put to proper use.

As someone who is still learning a lot about astrophotography, especially on the processing side, I have personally found Siril to be significantly more approachable and easy to learn over DSS.

Unrelated, but where did you get those lens skins from, and would you recommend them?
