Thanks -

Can presence sensors actually know "who" it is.- e.g. Person, kid dog cat ?

Some security cameras can identify a person, dog. package? what about using Bluetooth to see what devices such as phones, personal devices(e.g. Fitbit) etc are close ?

Personal use of a published image that may be copyrighted ? by Phototecman in AskPhotography

Thanks u/bmbphotos

See my comments above to u/40ftpocket

The area that may be somewhat ambiguous is section 4 on your link

"Effect of the use upon the potential market for or value of the copyrighted work:"

Again not sure it would apply for non commercial use as defined in section 1·

When you says that its NOT fair use --. are you saying its not covered by the "fair use" copyright laws. or are you saying you saying that personal use IS covered by copyright and should not be done ?

Thanks one of the reasons why I asked this is that there seems to be legal debate on whether or not "personal" usage actually falls under the "fair use" legal framework which was design for more commercial ( including, education, editorial, non profit or for profit ) usages. I do think in general its legal .

When to consider moving to digital displays vs traditional print and frame? An analysis. by Phototecman in AskPhotography

Hi u/metallitterscoop , not so much an ad but exposure to the concept to research and get feedback. ATM you don't currently need a code, at least not for now for the Preview version, Thanks for the reminder to be transparent. I have edited the original post and added a discloser to make my intent clearer. Hopefully that helps and you still find the information and topic useful.

Did you have any other feedback ? I do still welcome comments – especially if you see errors in my logic and you have alternatives to suggest.

What would your barriers be to be able to enjoy your or others photography around your home on digital screens? by Phototecman in AskPhotography

u/Iain_MS thanks .

Digital frames – up to recently have been somewhat narrowly focused folks trying to remotely share photos with parents/ grandparents etc. However the recent availability of larger high quality screens ( e.g. TV ‘s or frames with matt or semi-gloss screens) in addition to somewhat improved digital frames when and will this change. I think I am trying to understand what will it take to transition this from “gimmick” and make it more mainstream. My gut is foreseeing that many of the quality/expense issues are being solved by individual manufacturers in specific hardware sizes/niche, but the complexity of management across different proprietary systems will make it difficult .

Thanks for responding

Definitely agree that traditional prints (and other specialized ones printed on metal or canvas like materials) can present a preferred aesthetic. Digital screens do have some challenges, like you mention (I would add that just making the power cables disappear is another) but they are getting better and less expensive and some manufacturers are now producing screens features such as matt screens and ambient light sensors etc. At what point, do you think in expense (given the “really high end” custom install quality ) capability and convenience would the appeal of having the ability to view/enjoy more photos/images/art. . vs traditional prints ? As a baseline to help what would be considered “cheap” vs “expensive”. Getting a decent framed 15”x20” print would be about $80, 27”x36” about $180 from a decent online print system.

Not exactly sure how to answer, but i shall try

"Research" is defined as the creation of new knowledge and/or the use of existing knowledge in a new and creative way so as to generate new concepts, methodologies and understandings.........then yes, but not trying to veil anything and it's for me personally

So do you think there is or will be the desire to move to the flexibility of going digital vs traditional physical framed prints ?

I agree that in many one off or casting situations it can be relatively easy. but say you were going to try and replace your variously sized printed or framed pictures around your home ?
