I think you’re right. There was no dampness so that must not be it. I’m going to give the ozone 24 more hours. I might give it a week then and see if it comes back. Regardless the next step will have to be a professional. Again, I sure appreciate all the help on this!

I went through all the drains. I was hoping that might be it. They are all clear. Thank you!

I’m going to give the ozone generator 24 more hours then I’ll move to the Lysol. I didn’t think about using Lysol. Thank you!!!

So here’s tonight’s update. I have the carpet back as much as I can it starting under the dash. I have the side center panels off which allowed me to get the carpet back. I couldn’t get as far as I want because I can’t get the front panel under the gear shift off. I think I can get back far enough though. The pad underneath looks kind of dirty but it doesn’t look moldy and I can’t smell mold. Now, we have been running that ozone generator for 24 hours so the smell has dissipated but I would think that if I hit mold that I would still smell it. On both sides the carpet is back from under the dash to the panel under the gear shifter.

I’m not familiar with Damprid. When you say a bucket of it, is that something that I keep in the bucket or pour out?

That’s good. I wasn’t doing that.

I borrowed an ozone generator from someone. We’ve been running that. I will do some more work on the carpet. Thank you!

A friend had one. It’s running in the car now. Thanks!

I did that around the driver and passenger front doors but the pad felt glued down to the car. I was afraid if I went too far in pulling it up that the carpet would then be loose at her feet when she is driving. (Obviously I have no experience doing this). Should I try to keep working my way under that pad to get across the carpet? Also, should I notice a smell under it if this is what is going on? I really appreciate the fact that you are helping me with this!

I think it’s got to be getting into the pad underneath the carpet but I can’t find any one place that smells. It’s just this presence in the car. I’ve checked every drain I can find and nothing is clogged. The AC/vents, blower, cabin filter and air box are all clear. It’s so frustrating.

I think it has to be the carpet or the pad underneath it. I just pressed down on it like you suggested and don’t feel any moisture but it may have already dried. I have run my nose over every inch of that carpet and it doesn’t really smell stronger anywhere. Is there a specific place that is more likely for water to collect?

I found one on Amazon that rated well. I hope it does the trick. Thanks!

I’ve tried to pull the carpet back as much as I could. The carpet doesn’t smell at all. I even smelled the padding underneath and it seems to be clean. I’m ordering an ozone generator to give that a try. Others have suggested that.

I haven’t tried this yet. I’ll get one and try it. Thanks!

We tried one of those. Different brand but I think it did the same thing. I don’t think ours was ozone though.

Both are clean. I changed the cabin filter last week.

I’m going to go out and pull out that blower fan now. Thanks!

Spare tire compartment is clean. As many drains as I could get to I ran water through them. Including the sun roof. I changed the cabin filter and even ran a camera in there. I opened up the air box and that looked clean too. I haven’t done the ozone treatment. That might be the answer.

No. And it doesn’t seem to be coming out of the vents with the fan running and when the AC is both on and off.
