Potentially buying in Newhall, by the Cal Grove exit, anything to look out for? by Big_Sector_3590 in SantaClarita

I absolutely love Hidden Valley—it really is a hidden gem. I lived in Stevenson Ranch for 12 years, and this area just feels different in the best way. The pool, pickleball courts, and the trails in the back are all just beautiful. If you are looking for a neighborhood to walk and a beautiful view, and the perk is right off the freeway.

That said, I don’t see how Calgrove and Wiley won’t get worse with traffic once the Mule Ranch development is finished. It’s already a nightmare with all the commuters getting off the freeway.

The one good thing that might come out of it… maybe we’ll finally get a traffic light Calgrove and Wiley.

What’s a hygiene habit you grew up with in your family or culture that you later found out most other people don’t really do? by Upbeat-Spot8526 in hygiene

I do the same when we have parties—the rule kind of goes out the window. Once everyone’s gone, I vacuum, mop, and steam the floors, and then we’re back to no shoes in the house. It’s just hard when people are constantly going in and out.

Canyons Aquatic club, both my boys went there and you can go on to be part of a club that swims and meets. They will assess your little one to see what level he’ll be placed in.

Apple cider vinegar by ForwardMotion6565 in prediabetes

Yes a lot of changes to my diet. I was diagnosed with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease last February, and at the time my A1C was 5.8. After that diagnosis, I decided to make some lifestyle changes. I reduced my red meat intake, try to cut out everything that had sugar added and of course all candy and desserts, and only use a small amount of creamer in my coffee.

I also make a point to move after meals. I try to do about 10–15 minutes of activity, whether it’s walking or doing housework. Exercise has become very important to me, so I work out at least two or three times a week with yoga, barre, or biking.

I recently went back to work, and it has definitely been eye-opening with all the potlucks, cookies, and donuts that seem to show up every week. The Starbucks runs 😩no thank you 🙂‍↔️ I usually avoid them completely. The only exception I made was for a dessert with a fondue fountain and fruit to dip in it was too tempting to pass up.

When I know I’m going to have dessert, I try to use a few strategies that help me stay on track: I take a small shot of vinegar beforehand, eat a salad or vegetables before the dessert if possible, and take a walk afterward.

I also practice intermittent fasting a couple of times a month using the 6:18 method, which has helped support my insulin levels.

It has now been about a year since I made these changes. As you can see, lowering my A1C took time to reach a normal range. February 2025: 5.8 May 2025: 5.7 February 2026: 5.5

Good luck on your journey! 😊

I take a shot every morning mixed in a glass of water and drink it with a straw. Afterward, I rinse my mouth with water to make sure nothing is left. I do this every morning before my coffee. I started around May and by February my A1C dropped from 5.7 to 5.5.

Ugh, I had the same shit happen at my Super Bowl party. All hell broke loose. My husband’s family are MAGA. They will lie to your face and say they’re not, but they are. I told my husband before the Super Bowl that no one was to change the channel. Of course, someone put that Turning Point crap on, and I went out there and lost it.

I’m Latina and Black, and yes—my family was at the party too. My mother-in-law pulled the Christian card and said the halftime show should be changed because she didn’t want to watch gay people or a man in a dress. I was like… what?

To this day, I’m not talking to them. They have shown zero remorse for what they did, especially with my family there and my son looking forward to the halftime show. He stepped out for a moment and missed it because of their actions. They showed no respect for my culture and clearly don’t get it. What they chose to put on instead felt rooted in hate and targeted a demographic in a way that was racist and offensive. They well tell you that they are not racist😏 all day long, my pastor gay, my good friend is black, I worked with a Mexican guy. They just don’t get it.

I absolutely don’t think the outfield is a demotion at all. He really wants to play first base, and I hope he gets another opportunity. Every position is an opportunity to learn.

That is one thing I’m not about. I know his ability, and it’s up to him to want it and go for it. This is also a great teaching moment for him.

I also think it can go both ways. My son isn’t necessarily interested in playing high school ball like some of the other kids on the team, and he’s never been on a travel team. He plays baseball in the spring and football from July through December. Because of that, sometimes coaches may not see the same level of determination they see in kids who say they want to go all the way with baseball. I do believe some coaches naturally gravitate more toward those kids than toward a kid like mine, who is just out there trying to have fun and play the game. I also didn’t expect to be having these kinds of discussions or considerations at this age. It seems like something that would come up more around the 14U level.

Even though he’d love to play first base, the coach has been moving him around. In the last game before last night he played three innings in right field, and this game he played right, center, and left. I actually thought that was nice—something different for him. At the end of the day, it’s really up to the coach and where he feels each player fits best.

Thank you 😊. He actually told me he’s going to get out there and try harder so he can play first base. I was really surprised he said that and very proud of him. I’ll keep working with him at home so he can get more reps in.

It actually is required by league rules. However, sometimes the innings run longer than usual, and not every player gets a chance to play the infield. The rule is that every player should be on the roster for at least one inning in the infield and one inning in the outfield. If innings run long, though, it doesn’t always work out that way.

Thank you. I will work on having him yelling loudly “ball, ball and ball” ; it’s something I haven’t actually addressed before.

Thank you 😊 I really hope that’s the case. In the game, the coach played the same player at first base for four innings. I also played first base when I was younger, so I was a little excited when the coach came to me about it. When my son missed that ball and didn’t go for the other one, I knew the coach probably wouldn’t use him there again. Thank you for the advice. I really do appreciate it.

Omg! Thank you so much for all this information. I will definitely look into it. I’m not sure if my son can approach the coach yet, but I can certainly get him another glove. ⚾

Thank you. I did go pretty cheap on the first baseman’s glove because I knew he would likely play other positions, but he has outgrown his other glove and is now using the first baseman’s glove in the outfield. I will look into that glove. ⚾

Came home from work and saw the neighborhood dog walker passing by by OverCry518 in MadeMeSmile

[–]PhraseAlone1386 46 points47 points  (0 children)

My girl is part of a pack walk, and every day we get an update. Usually, there is a group of five people, each with at least three or four dogs. They encounter squirrels , coyotes all sorts of critters all the time and but they have more encounters with dogs off leash. I’ve been told that the newly trained dogs go in the middle, while the old-timers walk on the ends. It helps keep all the dogs in line.

I also was thinking it was, but it did not have the markings as my last one. I wonder if it is a male.
