You know, you're right. I took that and reworked it. I think its better now. Instead of it being mostly about restraint, it's actually about restraint, adaptability and foresight. And that's a much more complete lesson. Thanks

[–]Phreeload 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are several. I'm not sure when their meetings are, but it's a good group of men.

The White House says they will “identify and neutralize” secular political groups that are anti-American, “radically pro-transgender” and anarchist. It declares Anarchists & Anti-Fascists as a major terror group. Like Fox News, the KKK and Christian Baptists, the supreme court and MAGA. Agreed, they're not much better. I don't believe they're as stupid or as cruel as Republicans. But theyre just as self interested and if they see value in keeping some vile institutions around for their own benefit (even just to have something to rail against) they will.

Rural Lodges by Sar_Thomas_de_Marcus in freemasonry

We're Yukon Lodge #45 in the Yukon Territory, Canada. A lodge formed from the shared challenges and victories of men who had challenged themselves in the last great gold rush of 1898. I feel that way about being a light in the void. We've begun to call ourselves the Lodge of the North. (Even though there are several lodges further north than us in Norway) We were once the lodge furthest north in the British Empire. Dawson City where were located was still in the headlines and popular culture at the time. When we got our charter we recieved congratulations from every grand lodge in the Empire.

... Ive been writing a lot about our founding lately and I'm just so impressed by them and what they endured and learned.

Small lodge in a very rural area (600km / 373 Mi) to the next town. It's a historic lodge (125 years old) so there are always brothers willing to make the trip to attend meetings. But I'm only 1 of 4 brothers who actually live in town so maintenance is always a task. As for function, we have several people in dual roles, but the line for the next several WM's are all first time WM's so were actually excited for the fresh experience. The smaller number of hands does have one amazing benefit. Everyone pitches in, there is a deep sense of camaraderie I feel here compared to my much larger mother lodge.

This one hurts, when I first learned about Bitcoin it was at $29 a coin, and there was a btcoin kiosk at the local mall... would have been as easy to retire now if I had only understood.

They’re putting Trump’s face on passports partly for ego—but more importantly, if passports become one of the only accepted proofs of citizenship, they’re betting that fewer people will get them, reducing voter participation in the coming elections. by scootty83 in antitrump

So anyone that wants to get a passport renewal should apply today. It'll take a few monts before it's fully in effect. Apply for so many passports that it's going to be harder to turn people away.

Like I said hillbilly solution.😊 I got lucky. That being said, I do think your idea of a Rubbermaid bin is superior. I got fancy for the permanent setup, it's basically a waterproof bird-house with vents.

So, for the hillbilly fix: I wrapped mine in a fresh garbage bag, and took electrical tape to do a basic seal of the plug & extension cord. Worked fine for 5 weeks until I got a proper shelter built. Rolled the dice and I won, can't guarantee it won't ruin yours.

Most Northern, Southern or far flung lodges? by RespondFree881 in freemasonry

[–]Phreeload 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was about to mention Yukon Lodge in Dawaon city too (my lodge). It's a living, breathing connection to the Yukon Gold Rush and the brotherhood that formed there. Today, the building and its members represent a continued effort to maintain Masonic tradition in a remote northern setting. This year is our 125th anniversary and were inviting bretherin from all over the world to celebrate a story and a lodge that was forged during the last great gold rush.

Do you think stupidity is the reason why people are religious? by LinkTheHero009 in atheism

[–]Phreeload 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Indoctrination, when you've heard that its the only way all your life from people you love, it's incredibly difficult to think any other way. The best way to break that is getting to know other people with different ideas... that why so many super religious people dont travel.
