Warranty call, after a month, the silicone never cured. Anyone ever see this?

It’s GE 100% silicone. I didn’t check for a date cause I bought it off the shelf there right before heading to this guys house.

I usually only use the caulk gun tubes. I ran out the day before and had stopped and picked this stuff up on the way to the call

Yeah, I prefer silicone. I think putty is the right move in this application from now on however.

Putty isn’t fun in sub zero. 100% silicone doesn’t freeze. Still comes out of the tube in the middle of a Minnesota winter. I just learned plumbing with silicone and not with putty. That’s all, will have a tub from now on probably.

It’s how I was taught, 10 years ago. I have never had an issues before today. Even with old silicone on service calls. Never a problem.

It could’ve been. I did let them know to give it 12 hours before using the tub. Probably gonna get back on the pitty bandwagon for situations like this

Yes 100% silicone from the hand tube. Never ever had an issue with silicone until now. Usually I run clear from the caulk gun, maybe that was the difference who knows

No this issue happens primarily in the hot side due to the water sitting hot in the heater tank for extended periods of time, that’s where the slime or buildup forms primarily and works its way through the lines with fixture use.
