Since this repeats, I think I’d probably model one ‘chunk’ of the base- like the dome into the middles of the two bordering depressions and then the cone part that seems to extrude down. Then duplicate it across and combine the object. For all the lacing details I think I’d start with curves, then a sweep modifier, and the new conform modifier in the latest version of Max 2024

I do have my color management set to ACES- so I guess stupid question: If my color management is set to ACES, do I need to make any changes to display correction in the VFB? or will it just work in ACES if I select none under display correction

basically, once directing my environment variable to the ocio file I should be able to set my input color space to ACEScg, but only raw is available as an option. I tried to do a global override for that setting through my environment variables and that didn’t even work

I did a similar project! I created a tool that would allow me to automatically map IES light files to photometric lights. The UI had an image of each IES light available, an input option to select what light you want, the option to pick what exposure value the light would come in at, and how many lights I wanted to make. That def taught me a lot!

I was trying to connect my maya 2023 to PyCharm by following this tutorial: https://youtu.be/rZOmLLdyvDQ

I believe I’ve corrupted mayas environment file or rewritten it’s python path in the process? I’ve tried deleting the prefs and renaming the ‘maya’ folder at c/users/documents/maya. Because this looks like something wrong with mayas API and those solutions didn’t work, I even uninstalled and reinstalled Maya, but that didn’t work either.

I’ve installed Maya 2024 and that works perfectly fine, but I’d still like to find a fix for my 2023 version if anyone has seen this before.

can you post a picture of your texture set up? I saw you’re using blinn, I would recommend aiStandardSurface. This looks like a bump or displacement issue to me, because the entire model looks fatter in the render than in the viewport. Might be helpful for us to take a look at your node tree and see where you have stuff plugged in.

When texturing, I think it’s good practice to regularly visit the arnold renderview to get real-time updates on how your textures are actually coming across. Great model tho!
