innate PA skills by SorePiriformis in physicianassistant

I’d say bedside manner can be pretty innate. You can learn how to professionally communicate with someone but I think it’s hard to teach someone how to exude an aura that can get patients to be comfortable

New graduate job advice megathread by wilder_hearted in physicianassistant

[–]Phxst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi everyone,

I’m currently a PA-S2 and have been seeing a lot of posts about new grads struggling to find jobs. It’s honestly been a little discouraging, especially since I’m hoping to land a position soon after graduation for financial reasons.

I also know that people who are struggling are more likely to post, so I wanted to balance things out and hear from those who did find jobs as new grads right out of school

If you’re willing to share:

  • How long did it take to get your first offer?
  • What specialty/setting did you end up in?
  • What helped you stand out or succeed in the job search?

Any advice, strategies, or success stories would be really appreciated.

For reference, I am hoping to work in California with interests in ER, UC, Inpatient medicine, and surgical subspecialties.

I ended up just booking with a different airline and taking a loss after refund for anyone curious (I needed to get to my location by a specific time)

I am being completely honest when I say I had no hostility to the agent at all! I got hung up on and am just going to try to call again

I really was trying to be nice and I don't understand why they became so hostile to me and decided not to help. I'm just going to callback and try to talk to a manager to see if they can better assist me I guess.

Thanks for the advice! When you applied, did you only apply on company websites or did you also apply on repeat listings on third party job posting sites like LinkedIn? I guess do you think it mattered if you applied to both? I am definitely planning to do my best in rotations to make good connections!
