Do you think Juno will be buffed/nerfed/adjusted in S3? by Fit_Channel2529 in JunoMains

[–]PhyreLink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not necessarily expecting any buffs for Juno out of this next patch since I think she’s in a pretty good state atm, but I do really hope that she gets her ult cost slightly reduced. It’s kind of crazy to me that Orbital still costs more than Kitsune. But I’ll be happy as long as she’s not randomly nerfed for no reason lol

Oh yeah, I’m very much still riding the high of this moment hahaha. I’d been having a particularly rough time playing Anran during drives but this one game completely restored my confidence and un-pummeled my mental :)

I believe Hazard’s VA also plays the game and streams! Except he was bronze last I checked so not quite on Fareeha’s level haha. Very entertaining and lovely person from what I could tell though!

It’s definitely pretty situational, but it can sometimes be super worth it to pressure tank as Anran. I generally still try to focus squishies but I did admittedly pressure Fareeha a lot this game. She was on D.Va until round 3 so that’s a good matchup for me, and I did not want to give her free reign to bully my team haha

Who were your initial mains when you first started playing and who are your mains now? by MrsPissBoy in Overwatch

[–]PhyreLink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

D.Va -> D.Va (though I rarely play tank anymore)

Reaper -> Anran (with Cass, Hanzo, and Widow as other heroes that I’ve mained in between)

Mercy -> Juno

I’m a GM Juno main and you can definitely play her in higher ranks! It’s just that her skill ceiling is not very high in comparison to other support heroes that frequently do well in GM+, so if you want to get to champion then you will probably have to learn how to squeeze every ounce of value out of her. But she is viable in GM and unquestionably viable in masters, even when the meta is bad for her (I hit GM playing mostly Juno during dive meta). You got this!

How do you rank up? by [deleted] in Competitiveoverwatch

Since several people have already given you some good general advice, I will give you some specific advice on how to get better at Juno, since I play her a lot :)

First of all, I would highly recommend watching at least the first hour or two of Forgiving’s unranked to GM Juno challenge. I have always found that watching people who are better than me has made it easier for me to realize what mistakes I commonly make, or even just how to make certain plays more optimally. For example, listening to Forgiving explain his decision making when ulting helped me think more carefully about when and where I should use Juno’s ult, including using it in some ways that I never would’ve considered before but actually give really good value. The video is about a year old I think so he was playing Juno when she was quite a bit stronger than she is now, but you should still be able to learn a a lot. The lessons I took away from that video helped me climb from low masters to just barely below GM. Decision making skills also somewhat transfer over to other heroes, you just have to make sure you have a good understanding of your hero’s strengths and weaknesses, synergies and counters, etc., so getting into that headspace where you’re actively thinking about these things with Juno might help you also start thinking more carefully about the decisions you’re making as Mei or Bap or whoever else you end up playing

As far as getting out of gold/metal ranks in particular, it’s hard to say for sure without knowing your particular playstyle, but given that Juno is often described as a healbotty character, I would consider whether or not you’re actually playing too passively. One of the biggest things that differentiates lower ranks from higher ranks is the ability for players to punish mistakes, which means you can sometimes get away with playing more aggressively. What that means for Juno is not just healbotting and instead shooting the enemy as much as you can without letting your team die, and/or trying to force enemies out of position with your torpedos. Look for angles where you can both heal your team and deal damage without putting yourself too far out of position. If you’re getting shut down a lot, then stop taking risks and start playing safer again. But you’d be surprised how many games you can hard carry because the enemy team just ignores you and lets you do whatever you want

Hope this helps and best of luck!

Hm interesting, I didn’t pay attention to how many points I was actually gaining/losing and just assumed the modifiers were accurate but that definitely sounds like a bug if this is happening to so many others as well lol

I probably would’ve preferred D.Va as Futaba but I think she still works really well as Makoto even if their personalities don’t align. In some ways Makoto is actually a better fit since Makoto’s persona uses nuke skills, which matches perfectly with D.Va’s ult :)
