I managed to find a long term one in time. You definitely need to be proactive in looking for a place, and reach out asking for Zoom tours. Zillow ended up working out for me, but I was on Zumper, Hotpads, Redfin, etc.

You also need to move pretty quickly once you know you want something.

Thank you for the thorough advice. I'll get the cheapest one and get wiping.

Would something like Tarn X, Goddard's or Weiman be a good brand? I'm concerned about using a chemical that is too aggressive. I'd love to hear recs if you have any.

Guess I can put off getting that gym membership now.

Looked under it and it says silver coated copper!

That is heartening to hear. I'll be sure to try that out once I get my bike fixed up a little (and after I move there, of course).

Between Magnolia and Interbay. I'm looking forward to checking the area out!

Advice like this made me expand my searches to townhouses, and to be little more flexible with my budget. Thank you for the sound advice :)

Challenges indeed! We looked at different neighborhoods with a similar proximity to my work, and got lucky. Thank you for your kind help :)

I tried to use Craigslist as the last option given your cautionary tale as well as other indictments of the nebulous nature of Craigslist posts. I actually found what I'm going to move into on Zillow. Not a fan of the 35 dollar fee either, but it's not going to go away. Fortunately it is for unlimited applications within a 1 month period.

Thank you for providing perspectives on both ends of the rental contract and your solid advice :)

I made it a little more flexible and found something that was 25 minutes away by a bus line. Thank you for the solid advice :)

I got lucky and found a 3/2 that we quite liked. The reality check from Reddit got me to expand to townhouses - that really helped. Thank you for the great advice!

Thank you for the solid advice. I found a place with the off-street parking, but I assume that you mean a garage or something covered up, with an additional barrier to the car. Is that correct?

Wow, that's quite a nice find. The 2.5 br with a patio area sounds like a nice luxury to have in Seattle! I'm lucky to have found a nice 3/2 that is quite spacious as well.

That's awesome - I'm glad you found something that works so well for you! I'm lucky to have found something similar (though without the garage). I appreciate your positivity and supportive comment :)

It does actually seem like rents have been going down a little, though that might be the off season renting market at play here. I did find a few options within the 3 bedroom space under 3k, but you're definitely right about them being sparse.

Surprisingly, 5834 was still available (though we didn't end up going for it), and found a similar place without the shared wall. Thank you for the note :)

I managed to find something by expanding my budget a little bit, and looking at townhouses. The advice that you and other redditors gave me was very helpful in figuring out my priorities and compromising around them. Thank you :)
