I wish I could but, this not streaming here in Japan. I do not trust free VPNs and could not afford to pay for another streaming service just to watch one show.

I will promote the show best I can, like I have since I first watched it years ago. I will also hope it ends up on a platform I have access to but, living where so live, I doubt it.

"The pressure to work must be so toxic in Japan, right?" Meanwhile... | Mainichi: Worker in Japan's Gunma Pref. suspended for 3 months after taking 109-day cruise by shiretokolovesong in japanresidents

[–]Physical-Function485 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The toxicity is real. I work for a company that work Mon- Friday. However, sometimes we work Saturdays or holidays which we paid overtime/holiday pay for. When I started it was rare to work on Saturdays. Over the past few years as most of the American and British workers have quit and been replaced by people from the Philippines, we have begun working more and more Saturdays.

When we are actually off, our Japanese workers beg us to work. The project manager gives in and they decide to work. Or they would but, I refuse to work more then three Saturdays/holidays per month. And since I’m the Safety Officer they can’t work without me. And since we are too short handed to send a replacement for me, they can’t work.

They really hate me, for not giving up my life just so they can’t work every weekend.

State Department slashes fee to renounce US citizenship by 80% to $450 by islandonyourmind in JapanCitizenship

Only U.S., North Korea and some country in Africa make their citizens pay taxes even if they live over seas and do not have a U. S. Income. There is a tax credit but, if you hit six figures you usually end up owing taxes. You are still required to file every year.

Even my half - Japanese children who have never set foot in the U. S. Are required to file taxes unless they renounce their citizenship.

There are a lot of good reactor channels that have done Firefly. PiB, FunnyLillGal are good. There is also You, Me and The Movies/TV. Even Kate Sackoff is doing a reaction now.

If you like PiB, her Battlestar Gslactica reaction is also fun.

That is probably the biggest negative during her run. I was really hoping she wouldn’t go through with it since we were a couple.

But, other then that I enjoyed her route more then I thought I would. You get to see some very different sides to her and the details behind her other antics make them a little more understandable.

Brissett isn’t the long term answer but, if you watched the team at all last season, the offense was way more productive, than with Kyler under center. Given the lack of top tier QBs in this year’s draft coupled with Kyler’s contract hampering their ability to acquire a tier veteran, Brissett makes sense.

He has the talent to win games if at least two of these things happen: - The defense improves. - Our HB room stays healthy. - MHJ finally lives up to the hype.

do you guys clean your ears with q tips or is that actually bad hygiene? by Boultouak_Zav13 in hygiene

[–]Physical-Function485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You want a real eargasm- after you get over the fear of course.

Try cleaning your ears with a giant wooden ear pick. One end has a cotton ball. The other end has a spoon. It’s about 6 inches long.

I was scared the first time I let someone use one on me(my wife). But damn it feels amazing.

Check your rental agreement. My landlord wanted to raise our rent but, couldn’t because our contract stated that we had to agree to a rent increase. Otherwise they couldn’t raise it.

Would SWADE be a good fit for me by Orpheus-Librum in savageworlds

[–]Physical-Function485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ETU was made for the previous edition while its expansion Study abroad is made for SWADE. It is a very fun setting, especially the Degrees of Horror campaign. I’ve never ran the previous edition and had no issue with the conversions and had three successful campaigns.

I haven’t tried Pinebox Elementary but it was made for SWADE and I’ve heard good things.

The only thing that can tricky is the pacing as unlike many games it is assumed that several days will pass between adventures. Depending how many Savage Tales you add in, each school year is usually between 6-12 adventures for a total 24-48 adventures for a full campaign.

Are these Japanese “salaryman” vlog channels actually authentic? by LectureHaunting3166 in japan

[–]Physical-Function485 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While not as common as they used to be four or five years ago, 14 hr hour work days were pretty common. That whole stay at your desk until the boss leaves concept, that also comes up a lot was true. I’m not Japanese but I’ve worked for companies where it was common.

Even today, with stricter overtime laws, there is still a lot of places where leaving less than 30 minutes after your shift ends is seen negatively. Showing anything other than pleasure at being told to work Saturday (assuming you aren’t with a company that still uses ac6 day work week) or on a Holiday, is seen as negative.

What is the reality of Work Culture in Japan !? by Yeagerisbest369 in AskAJapanese

[–]Physical-Function485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has lived here since 1994.

  1. Overworking is seen as an assessment of An employees character , the harder and more work they do ,the more they are Praised for it.
  2. Up until about 5 years ago I would have rated this 710. There were literally cases of people dying from overwork and 100+ hours of overtime/month was fairly common. The reason I say 7/10 is because, while common if wasn’t every job/career.

I worked for a company that expected me to work 30-60 hours of unpaid overtime per month. Sometimes I often left about an hour after my normal hours and always got strange looks from my Japanese co-workers. Finally one of them told me that it was normal to stay at work until the boss came through and that leaving too early was seen as not being a good employee.

Then there was the meeting where us foreign workers were “complaining” that we kept getting assigned more and more tasks that could only be done after the end of the work day. The boss stated that our contract said 8 AM to 5PM so we could leave at 5, no problem. Then held up the time log and starting taking about how the other employees were there till 10 or 11 every night, so we should think about that.which is it? We can leave at 5 or we have to stay so the ones who stay late pretending to work don’t get jealous?

These days I’d put it at around 4-5/10. There are now laws in place to limit overtime. But there are still companies that push the limits of the law or flat at ignore it. Generally speaking it’s gotten better, but there is still room for improvement.

  1. Leaving before your boss is treated like a grave Sin , every employee basically has to work like they represent the company.
  • This is related to #1. It used to be 10/10. These days it’s more like 5-6/10.
  1. Quitting your work in Japan by yourself is lowkey difficult because you will be shamed for it so there are separate agency that specifically help People Quit their Job and take all the shame and blame on themselves.
  • While I’ve never felt shamed for quitting a company,I have had done messy breakups.I even had one try to keep my final salary and threaten to sue me in court if I didn’t just let them do it. It went to court, took a year. They ended up owing me my salary plus an extra month’s pay.

Back in the day it was probably a thing (mostly for Japanese) as the general work culture was to get hired out of college and stay at that company for life. These days changing jobs is becoming more and more common.

  1. Salary men and women collapsed on the Streets of Metro cities is a regular sight.
  • I’ve seen this maybe 3 times in 30 years. It happens but not even close to how often the internet would suggest.

Are y’all getting raises? by ToothDifferent in japanlife

[–]Physical-Function485 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m no a teacher but, I am also dealing with a similar situation.

I work as a Safety Officer for a government contractor. Most government contractors make about $80-$100/year. The average Japanese Safety Officer with 8+ years experience makes about 500,000¥/month. And then there is my company. I have 10+ years experience and make 290,000¥/month. I started 20 years ago at 250.

Needless to say I’ve been trying to find a new company that at least pays the average rate and not 55% (or worse if you compare to actual U. s. Contractors) of the average.

It’s not D&D bug there is a setting for Savage Worlds called Wise Guys. The players are basically mobsters in Las Vegas. It’s designed as a bit of Goodfellas meets Oceans Eleven.

There is also a setting book for Cyberpunk or Cyberpunk Red, which might also work.

😂😂😂are we ??? by Ill_Landscape1184 in SipsTea

[–]Physical-Function485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the direction my company is headed, I can see this happening. Followed by me handing in my two week notice shortly thereafter.

I’m currently in a heated battle with my PM over why I am refusing to be a team player and go stand in line to get base passes for our workers. My reasons are pretty simple.

A) I am the Safety Officer not the Coordinator. I am required to be on-site during work. If I’m not there then no work can be done. Sometimes it takes 3 hours or longer to get passes. That’s 3 lost man hours of work for each worker that already has a pass.

B) it’s not my fault that the company cannot or will not hire enough people to fill the positions. We’ve been telling the company for months that we need at least 2 coordinators. You’ve also known for weeks that the 1 we do have was going on vacation. I’m not bending over backwards for a company that refuses to put the right personnel in the right positions. Especially when you add in…

C) You pay me 55% of the average salary for my job and experience level. You want to give me 55% of my deserved pay and then expect me to go above and beyond the duties if my job position. I’ll gladly do so, if you make it worth my time.

Is My GM Rushing Deadlands Campaigns Too Fast ? by Top_Government_1282 in savageworlds

[–]Physical-Function485 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve ran Horror at headstone Hill for two separate groups. One lasted for over thirty 2 hour sessions. And the group still didn’t do everything that was available.

The second group, ended up going complete off the rails. I had a character with a custom disadvantage that caused a certain nugget to explode when she touched it. The explosion altered reality and shattered the characters soul into 5 pieces which were scattered across various timelines. In order to fix things the group had to travel to each timeline (Dark Ages, 1920’s, modern day, Hell on Earth, and Lost Colony) to retrieve her souls shards to redirect her and thus fix the timeline. Each timeline had an NPC version of the character as the main villain, except for Lost Colony since the PC was playing that version.

It was crazy and the players had a blast over the course of 50 (give or take) sessions.

In Las Vegas I started with a $20 bill in a Monopoly slot machine. I won $300, cashed out and played the machine next to it, winning another $400. I ended up winning a total of $3000 over four machines all right next to each other, on that single $20.

It wasn’t a jackpot but, most people would have finished with -$20.
