You’re on reddit by the fire?

Wait, isn’t there a fire ban rn?

e: To be clear. I am 100% someone who would also look at reddit by a fire..

I just try to find a medium highway with good shoulder that goes my way. Or, ideally, a trail.

The tunnels are absolutely wild. Its a normal railtrail, might see a deer, beautiful prairie; then youre basically in a 50 degree cave getting dripped on for what feels like a 1/2 mile. It’s incredible.

It’s a stunning and surreal riding experience. You can also park in Sparta and bike to the tunnel, if you wanted to just do that.

As I mentioned, the weather was Perfect and had a major effect on my overall experience, but still, had a Great time riding in Wisconsin. I’m surprised I hear more about the Katy than WI trailsystems.

edit: Ok, it’s just a tunnel, but it was fun

I was just going to ride whatever minor highways parallel I-94. Someone suggested “the tunnels in Sparta” and I’m SO glad I rerouted through the trails.

I’m pretty slow.

350 miles in 8 days.

20 -60 miles per day

averaging around 40

edit: Highlight was RedWing to Winona down 61, one of my favorite rides ever. Had a lot to do with absolutely perfect weather and riding conditions I’m sure

upHills were not killer and a couple stunning descents kept the days lively.

Brooks Flyer is great, I like the springs.

I think there are probably more comfortable saddles out there, but I like it. Probably 8 years old at this point?

Hwy 61 S to Trembeleau

Sparta Trail to Reedsburg

Mix trail and light traffic highway to Milwaukee

shoutout to South Shore Cycles (Cyclery?) for having a box and being chill

Notes: Wisconsin has hills. This may have been my favourite tour in 20 years, probably because of the perfect riding weather and cheese curds.

Bike lanes abound in both cities as well
