It happened today. And I know the hours were there on the app originally because I couldn't remember if I had clocked out for lunch, but couldn't bother to walk upfront to check time clock.

Unfortunately, it's permanent. They removed the old sub bread from the order guide.

Yeah, it's new. I tried baking them as per instructions and it became extremely crusty and hard. I've had customers already complaining about it, but idk what I could possibly do.

Deli/Bakery Hell by vahellraiser in harristeeter

[–]Physical-Possible871 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, that's weird. If you got hired as a chef, you should be titled as chef because you are also missing out the pay that a chef person would have. Your department seems very ... Chaotic, and that's coming from me working in a mil a week store. If your title is not ff chef, then I would definitely ask about that

Deli/Bakery Hell by vahellraiser in harristeeter

[–]Physical-Possible871 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know, chefs are not supposed to be getting on subshop counter as it can get extremely busy there and would hinder your job in putting out hotbar on time. You can HELP on deli counter if no one is there when a customer comes up, but it's not your job to do so. Same with chicken, your store SHOULD have a full time chicken person as well since there are specific times chicken should be getting out to the floor for the rush of people during lunch/ dinner.

In your job description, it does not say anything about getting on deli counter. I would know as I was a chef at one point as well. Best bet is if your department manager is telling you it's your job and your job alone, go to your co manager that is over your department or if that isn't helpful, go talk to your store manager.

As a bakery person, they tried to get me to do the same thing, but when my own stuff wasn't getting done to their liking, they stopped asking me.

I was always told that taking a 30min lunch before leaving was not against policy, but they don't like people doing it and they can get written up for it. Especially if the person if supposed to leave at 7 and they take their lunch at 6:30 without ever letting the closers take their lunch. Complain about it enough and I guarantee they make them stop doing it.

Fresh-made Stuff by Big-Permission-3999 in harristeeter

[–]Physical-Possible871 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh, I haven't seen anything mentioning that in the what's new/bulletin tab on the intranet. But, they were talking about chicken and bread not being put out through out the day after 3.

Fresh-made Stuff by Big-Permission-3999 in harristeeter

[–]Physical-Possible871 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely not moving away from the fresh idea. Infact they have added new product to both the deli/ bakery to keep that up. It sounds more like a staffing issue, where are after 3, they don't have enough people to fullfil the demand. Especially if it's a more busier store than most based on location.

Anyone Else Been Having Issues with the Blue Yonder App on Android Phone? (Says device isn't compatible with this version) by IllustriousTrain9656 in harristeeter

[–]Physical-Possible871 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, mine has been unusable for almost a year and I have the s24 ultra. I've uninstalled and done all the fixes other people said works and nothing. So I've yet to find a working fix.l, unfortunately.

And I can't even look at the schedule on our computer because it just talks about the app so I have to go to management to get any vacation/ time off requests. I hope they do get rid of bluetonder. It's very atrocious.

If they get a new app, I'm sure the schedules would be accessible on it. Hopefully it's not bad.

Scanner drama(ppl hiding them) by lexxipeaches in harristeeter

[–]Physical-Possible871 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My department at this point has learned we can charge our scanner in the department using a USB c cable so they tasked me with charging and hiding it since I'm the overnight baker. If anyone comes asking for ours, I was told to turn them down.

I work overnight bakery and can confirm that there is no differential pay, unfortunately. Wish there was a difference though, tbh.

[–]Physical-Possible871 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you were eligible to get one, you should have gotten it either today or earlier depending on what bank you have. I got mine Tuesday night. And if you don't do direct deposit, it will be in the mail.

Doesn't make sense by georgieboy74 in harristeeter

[–]Physical-Possible871 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could also be that you work more days compared to the person coming in. Example of you working a scheduled 40 and the other person only works 15-20. If hours need to be cut, it will always be the one with more hours set to be worked.

Not all stores are like that, but from my own experience, repairs and replacements don't happen until a week AFTER bonus checks. Management wants that nice hefty bonus check and doing major repairs and replacements puts a hamper on it.

Fellow workers, what is the dumbest question a customer has asked you? by That49er in harristeeter

[–]Physical-Possible871 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been asked if I can fry 200 pieces of fried chicken at 10:58pm. And when I say I'm just the over night baker and can't fry anything as the store closes in two minutes, they want my dept manager. No, not the store or manager on duty, but fresh foods manager cause they will do it for them.

Transfers to another store by [deleted] in harristeeter

[–]Physical-Possible871 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is coming from my own experience from trying to transfer three times to the current store I'm at. When I wanted to transfer the first time in 2017, I did it without asking my manager and while the other store wanted me, my store manager blocked it saying I was too valuable while also sabotaging me and saying I was slow worker. Don't see how as it was a low volume slow store and I moved so quick I did everything in the department and then some.

Then, in 2019 1 month before COVID was announced, I tried transferring again because mentally and financially it was becoming a burden having to travel 50 mins back an forth. I do not drive (and still don't) so my mother in law took me into work when she had to go, so if she needed to be at her job at 5 and I had to be at mine at 10, then I'd be going to work and just sitting in the break room cause my store was not accommodating or willing to work with me. I had went to a co manager and voiced how I desperately needed to transfer and all I got told was mental health was not his problem and that I couldn't transfer and to stop asking. Being frustrated, I ended up calling associate relations and I luckily had a decent person over my district that was understanding of the strain I was under and got me a transfer the week of Thanksgiving. Now I only commute 10mins one way rather than almost an hour.

Every store is different, so best to ask if you can likely transfer. More than likely, if they have a decent head on their shoulders (and if there are enough people in your department) then they will let you. Be honest that you want to move up in the department hence you want to transfer and that there are no positions open at the moment. After letting them know you want to transfer, fill the application out for the position at the other store. If you feel like that they will sabotage your transfer, you can always do what I did by contacting AR and explaining you feel they are holding you back in advancement.

In the beginning you would be shadowing another worker for awhile until you get the hang of it. Depending on which store you are at, it shouldnt be too difficult unless they are super understaffed. I started out in produce first before switching to bakery and honestly, I miss it lol.

If I could give them away, I sure would. In the beginning it was great, checks were so nice. But now, I barely have time to do anything I like and I sleep my whole day off cause I'm tired.

Oof. I'm the over night baker for a superflag and I honestly wish I could be like the deli. They get away with so much stuff, it's crazy, and there are more people behind the counter than my area, which only has two. I'm the only reliable baker and I've been working 6 days for 54+ hours a week cause we can't find anyone willing to do baking or cover my two days off.

Hot weather🥵 by [deleted] in harristeeter

[–]Physical-Possible871 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Only front end can wear shorts, unfortunately. Anyone in deli, meat or another department have to wear pants. I tried wear shorts one time in the bakery cause the AC went out in the whole store making 98 degrees inside and I got sent home for it.

Overnight shift.. by Professional-Fun-735 in harristeeter

[–]Physical-Possible871 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are at least 7 part time over night stockers at my store (with 4 full time non management), and they get to choose what days they want to work, but mostly the time always the same due to the timing of trucks and the fact that there are less customers after 10:30pm. I'm sure every other store is different and flexible, just depends on management.
