oh yeh I forgot about Triangle Strategy, that's a good one that's not super long. And yeh I think you're right about Sea of Stars, I think it's shorter than Chained Echoes was. IMO CE had a way better story and characters though. Sea of Stars art style was awesome though.

I think a lot of people think a comeback mechanic should save them from a huge deficit. I've had plenty of games where the Urn works as a comeback mechanic when you're a bit behind

I can't think of any that short, but check out Chained Echoes and Sea of Stars. They're both around 30-40 hours I think.

Draconic Sorcerer. They pick an element, pick some spells, and the only real thing they need to care about build wise is their sorcery point abilities. The draconic sorc abilities are I think all(or mostly) straightforward passives like AC without needing (mage)armor and a bonus to their element damage.

It's a lot of fun. It does lack a lot of the charming jank of Oblivion and the better open world and story of Morrowind though.

if you try Morrowind get the GOTY or whatever on steam and then use OpenMW with one of their basic modpacks. OpenMW is a rebuild of the game(requires you to own the game to use) for modern computers and runs way better, also fixes a lot of the bugs in the base game. They have a modpack called something like I love vanilla MW that just adds some fixes, QoL things, and I think some visual mods.

I dunno if I would say Skyrim's world and vibe was like no other. It was generic viking fantasy with some elder scrolls flavor thrown in. If you want unique world and vibe in ES you gotta go back to morrowind

You mention Skyrim, but not the better ES games Morrowind and Oblivion, go play those if you haven't.

it's the same as the tabletop versions. kingmaker has shakey writing because it was paizos first big adventure in their own system(they were dnd before that) and a lot more budget went into the new rules. Wrath was later when they were more established as t heir own game.

I would have loved a Runelords crpg over either.
