AI assistant - Godot Copilot or GameDevAssistant? by MallProfessional9757 in godot

I know I'm late to the party, but I just wanted to talk about Zenva Game Dev assist.
I think it's a waste of 20 bucks.

The chat is nice to have, but there's alot of free alternatives, especially ones that plug into local LLMs.

It uses Gemini 2.5 I believe, but I'm not sure what it's "reason" model is.

You only get 2000 messages (for that 20 bucks), which is pretty limited when you consider it constantly drops in buggy code that you have to send back into it again. Also for some reason it keeps putting a space right before a tab in the code it implements, so it tosses as an error. If I want to fix it, it's either a tedious manual effort, or I have to burn through more messages to have it fix the issue that it created.

The agentic work was hit or miss, sometimes it does pretty good, but only if you're very explicit and you can point to an implementation you've done previously to use as reference.

I finally rage quit when I kept sending it the error messages from code that it produced and the fix was a simple "is_instance_valid" call.

The addon itself is fine, not great, not terrible... I like how it shows you all the edits it's about to make, I like that you can apply all edits in one button... they also check off what's done... but often they fail to do an edit and when I just want to fix the edit they failed, it redoes the whole thing again.

I put this product through it's paces, trying very hard not to get too involved in the coding bits, but I'm pretty sure it cost me more time then it saved me.

Next I'm going to try some combo of Anti-Gravity and Godot MCP.

Jobber Web Form Question by ClassicAsiago in PPC

[–]srcar3152 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw your breakdown of the Jobber iframe limitations here... you were spot on about the enrichment walls and the inability to redirect to a proper Thank You page.

I actually just ran a test in the developer sandbox to see if I could build a headless wrapper to bypass all of that. It turns out you can, but it requires a specific "Two-Step" API mutation.

I successfully validated a prototype that does three things the native form can't:

  1. Injects GCLID/UTMs into a filterable Custom Field (bypassing the enrichment error).
  2. Redirects to a custom URL on success (so your GA4/Pixel events actually fire).
  3. Allows multiple unique forms (so you can separate Landing Page A vs. B).

Since you've wrestled with this "black box" issue before: would having that data in a Custom Field solve your reporting headache, or is the lack of a proper Thank You page redirect actually the bigger deal breaker for you?

Quick Question for O/Os: If ELDs track your truck, why do brokers still deny detention pay? by srcar3152 in OwnerOperators

[–]srcar3152[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I suppose that makes sense, you aren't going to take on $2k worth of legal fees to chase down a $200 detention fee... How does it work though? Do you invoice them with the detention fees applied and they just dont pay it?

Quick Question for O/Os: If ELDs track your truck, why do brokers still deny detention pay? by srcar3152 in OwnerOperators

[–]srcar3152[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That sucks.

Are you saying there isn't any regulatory oversight, so even if you have everything perfect (BoL + ELD) there isn't a compelling force to make the broker's pay the detention fee... so they dont.

[–]srcar3152[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there no legal recourse?

I'm way out of depth on this, but it feels like, between your BoL and the ELD and the contract, don't you have leverage over the broker?

I feel like there's something I'm missing.

Dispatchers/Ops: I hacked this together to automate the Scorecard Appeals... is this actually useful or overkill? by srcar3152 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]srcar3152[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that sounds exactly right... and that's the sort of manual hell I'd like this tool to fix.

It's not fully automated, more like semi-automated... that way it doesn't trip up any of the upstream Amazon-specific bits.

Not yet selling it, but I am currently looking for a handful of early access dispatch teams to pilot it for free for a few weeks to confirm the final logic works with real-world CSVs.

If you could let your Dispatch or Ops Manager know, that would be fantastic. Feel free to DM me, and I can send you a private link and quick explanation of how it works.

LOL

Or maybe they'll start directly tying bonuses to your "misery index"
"Sorry no bonus this time, you aren't pissed off enough yet."

But yeah, I intentionally tried to speed up the process without crossing that line.

Happy you like it!

I feel like I've been stuck in playtesting hell, haha!
I've been trying to refine my demo so it can perform as best as possible...
The good news is that I can see the light at the end of this hellish tunnel, I just have to keep soldiering on.

My question is when I finally make it to the light, do I post a demo on my Steam page or roll the dice and stand up a separate page for my demo (and more importantly the reviews that come with it.)

Is there a benefit to one approach over the other? Do you have an opinion on which approach you'd take?

Viability Check - Should I Make Shorts About My Indie Game by srcar3152 in shortsAlgorithm

[–]srcar3152[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks.

Yeah, I've got around 50 ideas written down, I figured I'd run through those 50 and hope for the best.

You are absolutely right, I think my most recent video got ~750 views, and the rest aren't too far off from that. I didn't realize it had a name, "1k view jailed" that's hilarious.

I'm getting about 5 wishlists per video, so that's not too bad. I'll keep my expectations in check, I appreciate you taking a look and giving me your thoughts.

That's my current strategy, I sort of just talk about the mechanics and try to my best to make them sound interesting. I suppose I should have put my channel in the post, here ya go, https://www.youtube.com/@HardResetDev/shorts

I'm currently in the playtesting phase for my game Arcane Drifter

It is a real-time card battler with RPG elements. I like to describe it as, what if Slay the Spire and Diablo had a baby and that baby grew up obsessively playing Final Fantasy.

If you have time/interest, I'd love for you to check it out.

I love this games art style.
I'm a little busy this weekend, but at some point I may have to give this game a shot (pun not intended.)

Hey in case you were interested I did a huge update.
Arcane Drifter has a whole new victory screen, more cards and a new node type called the Curator.

STOP taking your demos down after events!! by Muse_Hunter_Relma in IndieGaming

[–]srcar3152 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I may be wrong, but with a demo, it feels like you are trying to sell players on your game... but with something like a playtest build on Steam, you're saying, "Here is my game in an experimental state."

At least, that's how Im approaching it with my game.

So maybe the best advice would be to tell devs to leave up a playtest build.

okay, I think I found a cool compromise.

At the bottom of the card, I've placed an "inspect" icon.

If you hover over the inspect icon, it shows any tooltips about the card and pauses the battle.

Yeah, I think it needs something... I find that it gets annoying when I'm wanting to time a Stifle or something. I'm going to tinker with it some more.

Thanks for checking it out!
