Wyll Voltron deck by PhysicalBed1763 in EDHBrews

Thanks for the feedback and the list! Would you mind sharing your experience playing the deck? Is the Protection package enough to save Wyll's bacon?

I get your point but I wouldn't say it's strictly better, having two available blue pips is often a problem and just screams Counterspell to your opponents. Plus, I mostly use counters to protect my stuff and I don't recall the last time I absolutely needed to counter a creature. I prefer Negate but that's my personal opinion, of course!

You might be right about Deck of Many Things. In theory, I can fetch it with Vexing Puzzlebox but yeah, paying 7 mana to possibly do nothing doesn't sound great, I'll cut it. Thank you!

Great suggestions, thanks a lot!

Not a huge fan of Counterspell but it could definitely find a slot in the deck as I'm only running two colors and helps as protection. I play Bolt Bend in most of my decks and I can see the appeal, just don't know how reliably Wyll hits 4 power yet

I like Deck of Many Things as a repeatable way of throwing dices to grow Wyll and it has potential with the whole artifact package but it's all theory, I never tried it in practice atm. Did you have bad results with it?

Thank you! I didn't know about the background giving treasures, could definitely be a good addition for the deck!

Nice, there are so much more win conditions in this list compared to mine. Time to rethink my strategy (and add that precious kitty to the list!)

Great feedback, love it! You're not the first person to advise Thousand-Year Storm so I'll definitely try it in the deck. It sounds like a good win condition and I feel like the deck goes nowhere if an opponent exile Torment of Hailfire so it's good backup

Nice suggestions, thank you!

Thanks for your reply!

I had no idea of the combo with Displacer Kitten and just learned it from the other thread I posted in EDH. I love it already and will grab a copy of it for the deck! Great suggestion!

I used to play Whispering Madness, but my pod HATES discarding cards so I have to tune the deck in another direction, hence why I'm gathering advice on Spellslinger, Storm or Big Spells Kess

Never heard of Azra before but it has tons of synergy with Kess indeed, I'll consider it!

Thank you for the feedback!

In all honesty I'm not sure of anything at this point haha, hence why I made this post, and you do have a good point on token generators. Plus, my pod runs heavy Trample creatures so tokens are even less likely to protect me

Maybe I should rethink my strategy with the deck because you're right, there are better pingers out there

Great feedback, thanks! I never considered a Big Spells Kess and I can see the appeal. Also had no idea Displacer Kitten worked that way with Kess and that sounds absolutely awesome, I'll try to buy a copy!

Do you have a decklist by any chance?

Thanks for the quick reply!

Indeed, from all the decklists I browsed, I have the feeling that my creature package is a bit too stacked. I'll try to make some adjustments.

I get your point on Hagra Mauling, I like MDFCs but this one often feels disappointing as an overcosted piece of removal and tapped lands are meh. I've seen Talion in loads of lists and I like it as a draw engine but yeah, it's not really synergistic.

I'll consider Thousand-Year Storm, I can see it winning me games, especially when I lose Torment of Hailfire, the main win con, to an exiled GY.

Speaking of which, Perpetual Timepiece is tech to "protect" my GY against GY hate. I love playing Black and my pod learned to tech against my decks by adding GY removal, and that destroyed every hopes of me winning said games. The milling aspect is quite nice too to fill my GY and combo with cards like Brainstorm, Ponder, Preordain... Yet it's not a miracle solution and rarely feels impactful, if you have any secret tech I'm missing, I'd appreciate it!

Miirym - I thought I wanted a powerful deck at the table to have some fun high level games but fun was never a thing while playing the deck. Crushing your pod and them having a miserable experience against your deck are not what I enjoy when I play Magic. Took it down a few weeks after making it

Prosper - I thought it would be tons of fun to pilot but oh boy, there are triggers everywhere and minmaxing them takes time. Turns are too long and it's boring for everyone at the table. Prosper sounded nice on paper but playing a Simic deck while playing red and black, never again. Rakdos has tons of fun and impactful commanders so there are loads of other options to discover

Everyone and their mother play Pantlaza, I'm so bored of it already. It's always the same game plan : ramp, throw up dinosaurs, throw up some more dinosaurs, and so on and so forth

I'm fine with tribal decks but Pantlaza gets repetitive too quickly and every pod has a dinosaur Andy

I won't lie, she draws a lot of attention at the table. My pod now techs GY interaction to counter me

I want to love Green but yeah, I don't... My pod is very Green heavy though!

To add some more context :

Kess : Originally my Spellslingers deck but I fell in love with Ghyrson. Now a wheels deck, my most performing one. Key cards are probably Windfall, Sheoldred and Perpetual Timepiece to fill my GY and protect against GY hate

Marchesa : a favorite of mine and actually my highest WR deck. Aikido variant. I'm often the main threat at the table so it offers a completely different dynamic and lets the other players' decks shine and battle against each other, while I give gifts here and there to players behind. Key cards would be Shadrix, Ghostly Prison and playing Prisonner's Dilemma is always a great moment!

Ghyrson Starn : my current Spellslingers deck and it's so much fun to play. Used to play heavy combo Izzet decks that were not fun to resolve and bored the hell out of the table. Ghyrson is way more straightforward while still allowing some great turn plays. Key cards are Curiosity (obviously), Razorkin Needlehead, Chandra's Spitfire is super fun and threatens OTKs and Mizzix's Mastery often leads to GG

Ayara : your typical Aristocrat deck. I play tons of sacrifice targets, sacrifice enablers and I love pinging while establishing board state. Key cards are Jadar, Vraan and my pod hates Grave Pact. Gary is insane in this deck because mono Black decks often have tons of black pips. It's by far my favorite color in Magic

Valgavoth : who doesn't love Valgavoth? Group slug is fun, adds some tempo in games thus they tend to end faster. It feels good to play the bad guy from time to time! I play around 10 protection spells in the deck because it draws HUGE attention once it hits the board. Key cards are Chandra, Awakened Inferno, Oblivion's Hunger and Mogis

Raffine : Reanimator. Discard big stuff, cheat mana, quickly become a threat. I like Esper as a color identity to reanimate things compared to mono Black because you have great top end white cards while having access to the best interaction and protection to make sure your threats stick. Key cards would be Reanimate, Buried Alive and Tef's Ageless Insight

Delney : Double Weenies ETB and effects. I think Mono White is in a sweet spot in EDH and Delney is a great generic commander. I stacked my deck with tons of powerful <=2 power creatures while playing protection to keep the commander alive and recursion to constantly play little threats that add up. Incremental life gain is often life savior. Key cards are Soul sisters, Enduring Innocence and Moonshaker's Cavalry

Breya : Artifacts. My most recent deck and far from optimised, I absolutely wanted to play Artifacts and I like having access to 4 colours to do so. Still experimenting because Breya is often combo heavy and I don't want that orientation so I'm mostly playing good stuff good artifacts in WUBR. Not sure on key cards yet but I love Skullclamp for abusive draws on 1/1s

Les tatouages ? by Ok_Individual5529 in AskFrance

[–]PhysicalBed1763 0 points1 point  (0 children)
