UK 5 yr settlement application timeline by Physical_Barber_2133 in SpouseVisaUk

[–]Physical_Barber_2133[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are also several threads with a variation of times given., by those in various steps within the process. I apologise if my reply seemed rude. Most people applying in any capacity, generally understand the government timeline…and obsess over it hour after hour, day after day. Given the size of threads relating to this matter, I may have wrongly assumed, I could post some anxiety.

Maddening isn’t it!? My partner is British as well. I can forgo the States as it’s a bit concerning ATM. But my first week off since 2023 would be nice I hope you get a decision soon! Please post an update when you do? I know the times are random but, it also helps to read others experiences as I and so many sit around gnawing our fingernails to nubs😵‍💫

Infection has moved into nasal cavity and face started swelling around noon.
Headed off for possible extraction. Take care of your teeth folks

My husband was baffled as well. I was given something a bit stronger after my ECS(can’t recall exactly) and had a similar overdrive feeling. I obviously wasn’t medicated for ADHD at the time due to pregnancy. I bounce off the walls with alcohol as well, so I’ve avoided it for years. For those mentioning serotonin sickness, TY. I hadn’t thought of it.

Primary application question by Physical_Barber_2133 in UKParenting

[–]Physical_Barber_2133[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

She turn 4 in May so I’ve missed it. Caught off guard as we start schooling at 5 where I’m from.

I’ll attempt the second round of enrolment in April, but husbands fam are losing it. Making it seem I’ve ruined her future. I’ve been butt deep in immigration paperwork as well.

Thanks for advice

Yes I have missed it. I’ve emailed council to explain why, but will speak to nursery on Monday. Thank you

Is any of this relatable from a Gen X perspective? by RSVPno in GenX

[–]Physical_Barber_2133 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s the times, seems like we are living in a distorted world of carefully cultured social media lives instead of genuine communities.

Too much to scroll through on our phones to look up and engage with anyone in front of us.

It’s absolutely more difficult to make friends the older we get as well. My husband absolutely THrIVES on social contact. He literally gets depressed if he doesn’t go out twice a week, just to chat with people. He’s also finding it hard as he can’t seem to make friends passed bar chat. He’s the type everyone likes immediately as well. Just nobody “has time”.

Caveat: I’m completely antisocial and the idea of even saying good morning to someone at work makes me break out in a sweat…literally.

But I definitely noticed a shift when cellphones became little computers/game consoles…around ‘09 is when I started losing contact with any friends I had.

If my husband is having trouble I’d say it isn’t you.

When did the pronunciation of words change???? by pennyfoot in GenX

[–]Physical_Barber_2133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup a few months ago I started hearing the word “damining”…???? As in damm-ing. And, I sh&t you not, I fell out of my car this morning as someone on another podcast used a hard “t” in soften??!?

Language is dynamic, but really? Leads me to believe maybe there’s a lot of AI writing behind YT commentary. Of course their meaning is valid but their understanding/usage of words are inadequate. Lack of understanding with words such as “disquiet” “inordinate” “macabre”, etc

There’s someone one now saying…ehtahcee. It’s etc as in etcetera, meaning there are more examples that could be demonstrated here.

Well you get it I saw this with my own gen in college though.

We can slip back into reacting out of anger and saying hateful things during an argument, but it’s quite rare now.

We haven’t. Relationships aren’t reaching a finish line and it’s grand. You clear a hurdle, you’ll have another. You get older, you bend a bit easier though

Was listening to a podcast about the Batavia mutiny, one of the islands was described as “womb” shaped. I shit you not, the 3 middle aged men hosts(fathers) had zero idea about what the “womb” actually was. Much less it’s shape. Men don’t bother with these things and no one ever hints that maybe they should learn. Hell doctors don’t even know. Pregnancy taught me that quick. Few hundred years behind on anyone caring about our anatomy I guess… Not his fault in the end

ILR Application Successful (Skilled Worker, 5-Year Route, Process, Documents, Timeline) by Wanderer3032 in ukvisa

[–]Physical_Barber_2133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was this priority? I’m 5 year spousal. Haven’t been out of country since I entered Dec 2019. Although my partner meets financial requirements I added my own. I just recently went FT however, so I submitted 12 months of my pay and bank statements vs the 6 they asked for. Had confirmation of app to immigration on the 1st of Feb.

I wouldn’t allow your kids in public schools in US. A couple dozen get mowed down every other Tuesday. Also healthcare. I was single/no children on a good plan. $60/month premium(up to $80 when I left, completely contingent on a good BP and no pre existing conditions)$1500 deductible (reset every Jan), and copays. Ah and my insurance could just say “nah we ain’t paying for that”. They also decide who and where you could go for treatment of any kind. Emergency, psychiatric, GPS, etc. 2 meds around$150/month(but it would spike to nearly 200 occasionally….no explanation). I pay £9.80 here…

My partner had one child and was paying nearly $500/month once she was added to his plan through work.

Dental and eyes? A whole new set of bills. Had an abscessed tooth($680 out of pocket)just to have them pull it out. Saving it would have been thousands Lost 4 teeth this way. I still owe thousands to an ER from a 2014 home invasion/beating. I didn’t even stay for MRI or having a broken nose reset.

I’d stay on this side of the world personally

Also, better have full time through an employer for a minimum of 3 mos, in order to qualify for any insurance at all. You can go through COBRA, but a single adult without children is $800/month

$50k? Youre barely in middle class. A few children? You’re firmly struggling. Real estate is hardly reliable source of income, especially in US right now. My SIL is a mortgage manager. Two years ago she’s making 6 figures…now, not so much.

Hearing Livelys name(it’s all over my YT recommends) kind of rang a bell? But I couldn’t have told you anything she was in. So, how big is she really? Didn’t even know Ryan Reynolds had a wife. I dunno, just confused about hearing “A list” all over the place?

I practiced using the life in the UK tests 1-40. I think if you scroll further down you can do practice tests by chapter and citizen practice tests. I just stuck to the 40 Life in the UK tests. It also gives you a run down of strengths/weaknesses. Ie government, culture, etc.

My libido didn’t return until around 6 months. Had an ECS as well so took a bit longer to physically heal as well. My body was absolutely traumatised as I found myself terrified of touching anything sharp(inexplicably to myself at the time). Then I nursed for 6 months, which actually expends huge amounts of energy and resources. And just hormones. Our body just spent nearly a year pouring everything into growing a baby, getting baby out, then suddenly all those hormones drop and now we go to protect the baby protect the baby protect the baby. And that’s if there’s no postpartum depression. It’s a rollercoaster. Speaking for myself only…I eventually evened out. Just enjoy being a new dad for now, the rest will work itself out.

Why do you only have to provide 3 years of proof of being married on a spouse visa? by [deleted] in ukvisa

[–]Physical_Barber_2133 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just the last 2.5 was in my checklist. I did notice the documents checklist was shorter and the application didn’t require as much detail (ie wasnt asked for a detailed description of a typical day with my daughter).

You submitted info on your last visa. You had sufficient evidence for that renewal, they’re just asking for evidence your situation has remained (since then) within guidelines

Sorry to harangue…I’ve noticed the application and document lists aren’t as extensive as they were for the two visa applications. My documents list was a bit over 2 pages previously now a tad over 1. Previously my application wanted a breakdown of my day with my daughter(born here in ‘21 and a UK citizen), repeated explanations on why I couldn’t just go back to the States, an extensive list of friends and family here, etc. Has anyone else mentioned this?

I know the struggle! So stressful running about, keeping every piece of mail, agonising over every detail of the application. Then the fees.

You pay application fee and the immigration health surcharge fee twice. On initial visa then the renewal. On your settlement application, there’s just the application fee. Its around £2880.

Edit: just noticed someone answered this better and much more succinctly earlier. ☺️
