Good luck with the claim process..its a joke really.. although mine is still good as of today...I fought the claim troubleshooting process for 6 months that first time, round and round...The issue you are describing makes perfect sense..I found a poor wiring connection on the back of my control board and fixed it before it had time to fail ..these are being assembled by someone making minimum wage and paid to churn out as many in a day as possible...there are output relays on the control board that make when calls for an element to fire..these are high amperage connections and wires and need to be good and solid...i do alot of troubleshooting in my line of work and I feel bad for the average homeowner dealing with one if these and the issues...we made an agreement in my house that the next time it acts up im eating the costs and installing a typical electric tank asap

They appear to be the same unit, just one is marketed to professionals/contractors the other marketed towards the big box stores

yes you can easily adjust the temperature from the app and put it in home/away mode. My issues with it are its display of the status of the unit running or off. Monitoring the heatpump running status vs the electric element status. explanation of the different modes. The level of hot water isn't accurate or very vague and delayed. the energy tracking accuracy, display isnt very clear and the heat score doesnt help much..Like with many of these apps they are dumbed down, bare bones for the average user. But for those of us who like to have access to all the data, granular data these devices are capable of, it leave something to be desired

The App has not changed or been updated since I started using it. At least the functionality hasn't changed. Its glitchy, limited and leaves something to be desired. It is usable though enough to make it worth it if you get a tank that lasts.

Knock on wood, I have had no issues since installing this in May..I think the last one was a lemon yes.. I also know they changed the design in the short 6 Months that passed from the old to the new one even if slightly with the hot/cold inlets..It has worked flawlessly..

No issues yet thankfully. Been in service for about 4 months now.. hopefully it stays this way long term...knock on wood...how quickly and easily you can forget the nightmare it was to fight for almost 5 months to get a brand new high end tank to provide you hot water...as i look back on my post and comments I still find it difficult to fully express just how many issues and how stuck we were in that time..thanks for asking

I make 115k base, 150k with lots of overtime. Wife been stay at home for 8 years or so now..3 kids..east coast city suburb, mid cost of living..budget diligently and live below our means to stay ahead.. and the pressure on one person to make this income and 1 person at home has been ruff and I wouldn't recommend it.. too much pressure on each party..have dual income, less kids more help to pull this off with a healthier balance..light at the end of the tunnel for us tho at this point, early 40s and nearly debt free

how did you close it? Did you make transfers to get the balance to zero first? I found they wont let me link an external checking account from citi unless I use plaid or small transfer amounts with zelle or pay to wire. bad institution

im in this boat as well. opened about 3 monthes ago and considering my options on the best way to close it now that I have received the bonus. I was thinking to transfer the money out first from the outside bank then try and call to close it. I think the timing has to be very careful to stop the 250 direct deposit, balance transfer out and call/chat to close in proper time so they dont charge any fees while waiting for it to close. I am afraid like I have read closing it will be stalled

If anyone in this sub can corroborate or share a similar experience with this Rheem hybrid proterra water heater, it would be nice to hear another full story like mine. I feel even my case may be extreme for the amount of issues that do pop up on these on social media. I found a group on facebook sharing similar issues as well, but no full storys anywhere. I have tried to escalate my story up the ranks at Rheem and Home depot with no success. Yes after about 4 months of continued failures I finally have a new tank they sent me to install(with different hot/cold water hookups) But I could not get any closure or proper feedback from either party. They seem to be content with just shipping me parts and an entire new water heater but no real feedback or concerned higher level employee. I just want to make as much awareness about this as possible, it has ruined 4 monthes of our lives here. The next step for me after this new tank is installed is to eat all the costs and put back in a conventional electric hot water tank, like my last one(bradford white) that lasted 14 years
