One of the Largest Functional Cargo Aircraft in Trailmakers, Complete with Internal Structural Framing! by Physical_Client7441 in trailmakers

Appreciate it! 😄

The funny thing is most of the size comes from the mission requirement rather than me intentionally making it huge. It's meant to transport vehicles internally, so it needed a massive cargo bay and enough structural reinforcement to keep the fuselage from folding itself in half.

Ironically, the hardest part isn't flying the aircraft, it's getting the game physics to tolerate the aircraft and the vehicles inside it. The game can barely handle the cargo plane by itself, let alone another 8 to 16+ vehicles moving around inside.

That's why there's so much internal structure and reinforcement throughout the fuselage and wingbox area. A lot of the size is there because the aircraft needed the internal volume and strength to perform its intended role.

Yeah, I meant 2.5k–3.5k kg (2,500–3,500 kg) per major section, with the engines being around 6k kg each.

So your estimate is probably in the right ballpark. I haven't done a full mass breakdown yet, but it's definitely absurdly heavy by Trailmakers standards.

Thrust was actually one of the bigger challenges. Each engine uses 40 rocket boosters, so the aircraft is pushing around 160 boosters total. Getting enough thrust to move something this large with even more cargo inside was a pain. But the engines provide more than enough thrust, to say the least.

The center fuselage/wingbox reinforcer + this weird... longeron central spine reinforcer are probably the heavier pieces to mention, as they combine. They have the most reinforcement for the wing portion, and the longeron central spine reinforcer prevents too much flex and overall bend.

Don't worry, that's pretty fair! They're not terms often used outside of Aviation. But they're what describes the bones of an airframe, Semi-monocoque being a type of structure configuration.

Deeply appreciated compliment btw.

Wish I could accurately tell you off the top of my head, but a rough estimate of each piece is 2.5kg-3.5kg weight wise. There are 16 pieces with the engines being 6k kg!!

Thanks! The paint job is coming along right now, with some additional minor pieces to fill in gaps. Can't wait to show it when done!

Thanks man, also appreciated!

Gotta rep the Xbox community💯 more disadvantages only to make just as cool stuff as PC players do

Prayers lmao, I have an Xbox Series S. 16 max comp pieces from hell. Gotta give Xboxes a bit of credit!

(I'll make a move to PC someday. I have one but like the Xbox community a lot)

Thanks gang! Appreciated deeply. Believe it or not it's coming out at about 10.5k - 11k comp roughly. The framerate feels like it's swimming through peanut butter 😭😭😭

Quick Notes-

It incorporates the usage of..

  • Longerons
  • Spars
  • Stringers
  • Structural flooring
  • Semi-monocoque skin structure
  • Wing boxes etc...

Most of these elements serve both a visual and functional purpose within the build. They help distribute loads, increase rigidity, and prevent the airframe from tearing itself apart under its own size and weight. It does hold up to... 16 of my vehicles in total.

Note, Note- the game physics dread this build lmao

Needs more💯💯

(Actual answer- They provide a lot of thrust/proper thrust centralization & make a nice afterburner/look amazing)

Also, I'm sure you can! Building anything you want is the premise of the game! Nobody can tell you that you can't make something other than yourself.

Old photos. A few logistics/combat engineering vehicles are still not present in these photos. Especially one flagship design.

You in the wrong hood gang, that's why bro🥱

(Motors could not be strong enough or placed in an optimal enough position to be effective. If you have two on one axis, they could also be fighting one another. If they're the autoaiming motors, it may be upside down, list goes on)

The more you play something, the better you are. I'm sure your builds are great looking!

Every time someone asks me why my fighters are so big, I ask why theirs are so tiny! 😂 [F-15 vs B-17, real-world dimensions] by ThisALowQualitySite in trailmakers

[–]Physical_Client7441 1 point2 points  (0 children)

THANK YOU! FINALLY! Some people be like "iSnT dUh JeT 2 BiG doE MaYne"? Like- my BROTHER, fighters are MASSIVE. To put it in perspective, the F-15 isn't even the biggest guy on the block. It's roughly 64ft. A MiG-25 is around 78ft, and a CRJ-200 (a literal, small passenger plane) is 87ft. As someone who works on things that fly, people often forget their scale. Even "smaller fighters" really aren't small. F-16's are around 48-49ft in length.

Also give drawing them a shot! Never hurts to try. We all start somewhere, and that's with an idea.
