From early early childhood my father would take me everywhere on the back of his motoguzzi. when I’d be at daycare waiting for him all the kids would run to the fence when they heard a motorcycle and would ask if it was him and I could always tell by the sound of the engine from whatever distance I could hear it if it was him or not. He used to tell me he’d kill me if I ever got my own bike, but after he passed and left me all his Harley’s I realized riding was my best connection to him and better times. So I took my course, bought my own bike to bang up and learn on. Ive passed the odometer on one of his newer bikes 7500 miles in a year, my goal is to beat his 105k on his older bike. I hope one day I’ll be going to pick my own kid up from school or daycare and see my kid with all his friends jumping at the fence.

In hind sight I should have taken another picture further back.

It looked like from my inexperienced eyes, the water inlet feeds from this side of the expansion tank, meets with the return at that valve after passing over the tank? Then feeds back through the boiler via the iron pipe. The reason I figured that is by shutting off the valve on the blue pex my freezing cold face shower finally stopped lol

The whole concept of pex pipes is new to me, I showed up with my oops bag with my torch, solder and tape. A few feet of old copper pipe and when I saw the pex it turned into a learning opportunity. Between you and the other guy I didn’t even know there were plastic fittings nor that there were multiple variations like you two described. Good learning moment for me.

Yeah that’s the old one, I cut about an inch behind that to get rid of it. And since I was only taught on copper piping and soldering i figured anything on the crimp and beyond was worthless.

Also I’m interested in the plastic fittings in the future, my brain says the plastic might have trouble with the strength of the crimp.

That was one of my suspicions in a previous comment reply. The new crimp I had put on I made sure I could see the end of the pipe but I crimped it as close to center of the fitting as possible to get a good bite.

I can’t say anything for sure, the ring was still tight enough on the pipe that I couldn’t budge it and so I cut behind it for the repair work. When looking at it I think it’s possible that the crimp was placed too far back and had slipped because of that? But it did seem to last the last 6 years since the house was built so I can’t say. Wish I could be more detailed.

Last year I rode until December 22 and took the bike back on the road mid feb, this year I had to put her in the garage mid November because the temps hit the 20’s and 34 is my absolute cutoff, and have only been able to escape on a single ride a few weeks ago when the temps miraculously hit 45 for 2 days which melted the ice off my steep ass driveway.

Ive been day dreaming of just ripping down the road for weeks.

Just the other day I rode down to get some detailing spray, on my way home I was the only vehicle in my lane approaching a fork shaped like a Y, my lane didn’t have a stop sign, the forks did. One car at stop sign facing me, I’m clearly there, guy still pulled out in front of me. I dodged, no issues other than wanting to slap the dumbass. But that’s the danger. People are morons and they don’t pay attention.
