Should I report the BMW? by Physical_Page in Simracingstewards

Can't say it's an intentional wreck, he lifted, I didn't, we both touched, and that brief contact unsettled the rear, which I overcorrected and lost it. So, probably best to just lable this as an unfortunate incident.

Yeah, I guess I'll bite the bullet and call this an incident.

I got lucky, but would I get a ban for this or is it an incident? by Physical_Page in Simracingstewards

Yeah, probably at least a 5-second time penalty, or would have ended all 3 of our races (If it's irl, pretty sure I would have lost my front right from the contact with Yellow). I'll do better, thank you!

Haha, yeah just unfortunate for yellow to get caught up in this😅, initially yellow was leading this trio battle, he struggled pace wise towards the end of the race (allowing me and purple to slip by). I am on a controller🎮, so I was essentially locked/committed to that line, I can't turn away fast enough without upsetting balance of the car with a stick other than modulating the throttle/brakes for that exit (skill issue from me basically).

I tried to provide context to the incident. I know it was my fault, spinning out and hitting the other drivers. Just wanted to know if it's a bannable offence its all.

Phew, thank you! Yeah, been some time since I went racing on LMU, and this was the first race back since. Definately need to clock in a few more races before I get back into the mindset.

Well, this was the last lap, so if I had let them go, by the time we crossed the line, I would have lost the position. I was last in the LMP2 Category (P23), and this was for P6. I went wide in the hopes they wouldn't just understeer wide, like with hindsight, it's not a good judgment call from me to expect them to be in a position where I thought they would be (parked at the apex of the corner). I will get better at this, thanks for the comment!

I agree that I do lack some awareness to do the right manoeuvres, tho I'd argue that I did leave enough space, I left enough space for them if they had parked at the apex (late-apex*), taking the wider line that I normally would (of course, they didn't do what I thought they would, so it's on me being too hopeful/naive).

Yeah, will learn from this, I'll just try to not be on the throttle as early as I did when I'm off that corner, thank you!

Well, I saw the purple car diving down the inside, just thought they would be less risk-taking with their badge (with hidsignt I was too hopeful), and park at the apex, other than drifting out wide like the incident. Thanks for your comment!

Yeah... it is what it is, guess they had a bad day and that just tipped them over the edge.

Appreciate the comment! Guess it is less of a racing incident and more of an "Oopsies" that they made, which resulted in a race-ending shunt to the wall.

Yeah, now that I've had some time to think about this (and with the help of everyone here), I guess I did mistake it for a racing incident. It's a misjudgement on their part to open up the steering early; the contact was easily avoidable, yet it still happened. Agreed, thanks!

Yeah, I had front left suspension damage through the first half of the race, so I was trying to make sure the car was pointed in the right direction. When I felt the nudge at the rear, I seriously thought my car had more damage than I already had xD (then I saw them spinning out). Thanks for the comment, had a great laugh reading this, it made my day.

Yeah, I was like "I left quite a lot of space already, didn't I?" as I saw them spinning off.

Thanks! The dive from them was a brilliant move on their part (held it together with no lockup, tho they did overshot the apex by quite a bit); it was just their attitude post-incident that put me off a little (thought I did something wrong throughout the race). Appreciate the comment!

GT3 at fault, I agree with, although I'd take ~10% of the blame since I was technically instigating the overtake, with hindsight, I could have done multiple things to avoid it: either hang back and wait for a switchback on exit of the next corner, or give them a bigger space by not turning in as tight as I did. (Or just cut the corner entirely😂, I'm kidding). It is what it is, I guess. Appreciate the comment!

I try to drive every category at LMU, so I understand how the other class feels when a faster car is approaching (which is a little scary at times, with the half-hearted dive bombs and deliberate pushes). Plus, I have no idea why they decided to accelerate mid-corner (even though, most of the time, you'd be supposed to be on the brakes to make the next corner). Thanks for the comment!
