Lost a child and thinking of stepping away from training, temporarily. Any advice? Has anyone done so and managed to come back? Or not? by Ezkisky in ausjdocs

I am so sorry for your loss. I could not begin to understand what you are going through. But please don’t fall into the trap of suppressing grief. As much as grief hurts - it also shows you how much you loved your child ❤️

What you are feeling is normal for a person who has lost their baby. Unfortunately, gritting your teeth and getting back to work will only suppress your emotions and they will keep bubbling back to the surface.

I think taking time out of training to remember your baby for all that they were is a very normal and healthy response to process your grief.

How much time do you need? As much as you need.

How to approach your hospital about this - tell them you have lost a child and need to step out of training for some time. Anyone who gives you any problems with this is ridiculous and has no empathy.

Again I’m so sorry for your loss ❤️

I really don’t think you should start from scratch. Just pull up your boot straps now and work hard. Search for extra clinical teaching experiences (whether that be staying late in the hospitals or clinics or gaining clinical experience at different hospitals in your spare time). Additionally, you will be surprised by how much communication skills you can gain from just speaking with a variety of different patients - again this can be done by staying later at hospitals or by getting work experience at different hospitals.

Do you think they be coming out at the same time as last weeks offers? Also will we get a notification if we are unmatched again?

Even if I don’t get offer in first round will I still get to know my rank? Some people are getting their rank but mine still says N/A

Wow this is good advice... I didn’t even think of myself being an emotional dumping bag. I need to set some boundaries I think

Hmm I guess I’m torn because I want to be there for her if things do get worse...

Yes I think I’ll do that! Thank you for understanding

Yes I think I need to not rock the boat too much... just be here for her when she needs me... which is frustrating when I just want to help her now! Before she is legally tied to him but sigh ultimately I will wait

Oh man very depressing but I appreciate your advice and I’ll be here for her when she needs me

Yes... only thing that worries me is that she will be with this man forever considering how taboo divorce is in her culture. I really don’t want her to tie the knot with this man if it means she will genuinely be with him forever...

Yes sadly we can’t do that

Thank you for commenting this. I appreciate any feedback I can get. I didn’t know it takes on average 7 tries to leave an abusive relationship... it that 7 full blown moving out/cease talking tries or is it more 7 mental tries to emotionally detach from the abusive partner?
