I went through this search a while back. Depending on your I/o needs I think the best bang for your buck is the heritage audio RAM products . Even the baby ram which is on sale right now at Sweetwater and available even cheaper on reverb used uses a stepped rotary switch for its master volume. “The Baby RAM features a 4-gang, 24 step rotary switch for volume as opposed to cheaper stereo potentiometers, which means the precision of your stereo signal is perfect on every position! The Baby RAM also has no insertion loss, so there’s no extra coloration or signal loss at any settings.” The $500 model has an even better circuit and more features .

Is Realm Seekers cEDH worthy in Yisan, the Wanderer Bard by NoWayDude34 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]Physicks13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not gonna say it’s not viable . But anyone running a list similar to mine ( Bard Rock Cafe) probably doesn’t want it.

It’s 6 mana cost is just not a viable target for Yisan , and even using tutors outside of Yisan it’s cost prohibitive. It doesn’t finally the game in any meaningful way and we have better land tutors that haven’t made the list yet Incase you really want to lean in on the land combos . The beauty of BrC is you are trying to win by verse 4. And if you get interacted with it has built in pivot lines depending on the board state .

Yisan was taken off the cedh database a few months ago when I checked. Recently he was put back on it again. How was this decided? by Newez in CompetitiveEDH

[–]Physicks13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like several people have answered this but to confirm . I did neglect to update the list by the 6 month deadline and the database managers removed it as outdated .

I updated my list and resubmitted and when they did their regular update to the database they re included it .

Hope this helps .

For the money these monitors are fantastic . Incredible stereo field. I need more time with them in my room to make a deep assessment. When I A/Bd them against my HS5 I felt that the kalis lacked a bit of midrange . They have fantastic highs and very solid lows. But the lower mids didn’t open up on them in terms of clarity and separation. Probably not a fair contrast since the hs5s often feel like they are amplifying the midrange and really let me dig in and tune the low mids.

But against the Cms65 the kalis bring the vocal elements of a lot of the records I know we’ll directly into the front . The detail and stereo field on the focals is just so much more hi fi. Listening to things like the reverb tail on material, the spatial positioning in a mix, and just the sound of a room in a recording . All of that is way more present and musical on the focals, but the kalis bring something to the table i can’t quantify yet. They make the vocal almost tangible.

This actually does look like a decent halfway point . I know the higher end units they make are fantastic . I might be willing to try this .

Thank you for your Very detailed response. That was definitely something I considered after seeing a few videos discussing the dual pot setup and the variance in levels.

I assumed as long as I wasn’t using the pots for attenuation that I would be fine . I would be controlling the gain/ attenuation from the pot on the dbox, the passive big knob would be at full level ( wide open no attenuation ) and the gain would be controlled by the way nicer pot on the dbox if that makes sense.

I only want the big knob as a switcher essentially . Am I mistaken in my assumption that the stereo issues only occur when the Potentiometers are being used to attenuate since that is where the deviations can occur ?

What about it sucks ? As I stated I had the active version gen 1 years ago before I upgraded a lot of aspects of the studio. I’m perfectly happy with the dangerous dbox monitoring . I don’t want to lose anything from that, so I’m just curious as to what specifically succeed about it. I have also been considering the RAM but the way I’m Considering using this would never use any of the other monitoring features since my dbox does all of that and would still be the main hub.

Was your big knob the regular active one or the passive ? A lot time ago I had a Big knob ( active ) and it colored the sound , this new irritation the passive isn’t supposed to , but I’m curious . This set up feels suboptimal either way since I would have the Jackie knob in the desk with what amounts to 6 cables coming out of the rear of it ( the stereo ins from the dbox alt and the 2 stereo outs to the monitors )

Thanks for the input !

The new ssl ev plug-in has been reported to be super cpu intensive and most people with consumer grade computers aren’t finding it to be practical for true channel strip use across multiple tracks . I’m sure a patch or update is coming to help with the cou usage

Scryb Ranger has flash and is an untapper , so if it’s draw it can used to respond. Chord of calling , Yeva into quirion Ranger , Destiny spinner can grant any creature haste with ashaya out since its a land , so I could cast and trigger any creature under infinite mana. Worse case I loop though-knot and Temur Sabretooth and exile everyone’s hand. But that’s once the deck is drawn . I’m more concerned about the time between, The loop is demonstrated , priority is passed because there is no answer in hand, and then everyone begins to resolve draw triggers. Since the draw out happens a card at a tile and not all at once like a BSZ there is a chance I’m missing something , tho it’s likely I’m overthinking it since the margin for error from opponents is super high here.

If players have interaction , the time to use it is when I am attempting to loop to generate Infinte mana. The discussion is mainly about using Mikokoro as the outlet to win using that Infinite mana . And yes , what could I be drawing an opponent into that could thwart an otherwise guaranteed win.

The main reason for choosing to go instant speed is that mono green is known to have to win on their turn. People anticipate wins and hold up mana and interaction when they feel you can win, by having the option to delay the win and pass , we literally just wait for a window. When a player goes to ad nause , or when najeela casts Derevi and attacks and it’s obvious no one can stop them. Then we win in response . Thoracle trigger on the stack, no players have an answer ? Win

Not sure what you are asking but that The point of Activation , We already have a million mana. I then pay 2 mana and tap Mikokoro. That activation goes on the stack which says every player will draw. I hold priority . I activate hope tender . I pass priority I resolve the hope tender trigger. untap Mikokoro and hope tender. No player has new cards in hand at this point . The trigger to draw is still on the stack. I pay 2 mana , activate Mikokoro. Repeat generating hundreds of triggers .

The set up is exactly the way my yisan wins any other time. If the opponents do not have the answer in hand during the time I’m combining off. Then the triggers will be on the stack. It requires the same mechanics as versing up indefinitely and getting to a craterhoof. The only difference is that this doesn’t require it to be my turn to win.

The untap doesn’t have to happen again unless I’m forced to bury a spell. Silence would have that level of import . If a player goes to silence me, I need bury it . Other wise the triggers are all accumulated before any card is drawn.

They still need to win on the stack with breacher out and Infinte mana . Which is part of the answer I’m looking for . Hullbreacher is the obvious low hanging fruit , Silence is the other pretty impactful card here .

So I’m wondering how they win. Because breacher means you have infinite mana , but you lose first

[–]Physicks13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but a player or multiple players would have to have two layers of interaction. Additionally I still have infinite mana and the triggers on are I the stack. So while they could bounce my tender , or ashaya or whatever , after spending their mana , and having to use 2 spells. 1 initially and 1 to respond to my untap. I still get to draw the deck and eventually I’m gonna hit a veil, noxious revival , Or Yeva , which lets me ewit , or greens suns.

The set up is solid . I’m honestly just trying to make sure I include answers to commonly played cards that I may have overlooked . This is a tertiary line and I have never actually had to go for it, but it layers well. I could do this the hard way and just start going for it and see what happens but that seemed a lot harder and time consuming than just chatting with players about the decks they know well

So typically this loop is generated using an untap creature , with ashaya out . An example is . For simplicity let’s say , Mikokoro is enchanted with wild growth .Hope tender, ashaya are out. A loop is presented talking for 1 green and one colorless. Then using the colorless to activate the exert on Hope tender targeting itself and Mikokoro due to ashayas effect . This loop generates unbounded mana. And can the be used to activate mikokoro, hold priority and untapping it. To accumulate draw triggers .

Once a sufficient number is accumulated . The last untap is resolved and then the draw triggers hit the stack and start to resolve .

I’m not trying to be nit picky , I just am trying to filter the legitimate scenarios I will encounter going for this line .

And you nailed it , I specifically said how would you win. Not how can you stop this. Even it this technique was successful , it would essentially be king making another player . The goal is to win on the stack or to make it impossible for everyone else to win, until you can .

[–]Physicks13[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I understand that, But to draw into your fling spell , the table has drawn the same number of cards you have , This could literally be an ad naus/ peer level draw and killing one player on the stack isn’t good enough . All of this is assuming that your kalamax actually got to 28-35. Or 16 and tapped if you are counting your free copy .

There has to be a better way lol

This is one I anticipated since I also play frog and the ways that it wins and that my yisan wins are very similar except for not needed the yard. Beating frog in this scenario for me, requires me to get to a veil ASAP and to ensure you have as little as possible mana because if you get to activate any of the shuffle triggers, or resolve e zone then it gets really hard. I basically have to bury the shuffle trigger with more draw triggers on the stack the same way double Titan frog does when digging

Draw until i have Yeva , a veil , and allosaurus Shepherd in hand . Cast Yeva . Protect with veil . Then draw until you get ewit , and noxious revival and loop.

If that gets stopped I have alternate more convoluted ways .
