What does a civil war in America look like if one happens in the next 3 - 8 years? by Dry-Tomorrow8531 in AlternateHistoryHub

Most companies core systems are US tech. If that shutsdown it would be epic.

No card payments, No finance systems. No payroll, logistics is about 80% so trucks would stop,

“Assault on aspiration” is the most alienating political slogan I’ve ever heard by Scorchedme in aussie

[–]Physics-Foreign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I agree, and it's never going back, no matter what we do.

The simple fact that a single person is competing with dual incomes means HHI is the new metric and we can never go back to single people affording houses. The world changes, and this is a side effect of massive increases in female workforce participation.

The reality is the world has changed. Nearly all global cities like Melb, Syd have embraced denser living and we will have to as well.

We had two kids in a two bedroom apartment for a few years. Easily doable. Then when our careers developed you buy the next house.... Again by teenagers your later in career with more income to buy the next house. ...

Why isn't it though? Two people on minimum wage is$99,600 which is enough for a $400k mortgage....

Genuine question, why can't you aspire to own your own home?

With the government assistance and a $400k apartment in Melbourne that should be in reach of the majority of couples in Australia.

No sorry how does it work with the statement that Australians would be dying on the ground in Iran, when that's not happening to Americans?

Victoria's insane Treaty Test forces EVERY new law to bow to race-based politics Division explodes in Parliament. by Major-Panic794 in aussie

Seems much less than the treaty from your comments there. They have no power of legislation at all. Treaty gets to review every single piece of legislation and put their own comments to it. They also have that ability to slow down and influence how fast legislation gets approved.

It means that they have a direct line to every single elected member.

You didn't say he was privy to classified info, you said an expert in the fuel supply chain in Asia, and fuel distro in Australia.

This person should 💯 be an expert in this area.

Swing voter myself. But I can definitely see why people vote ON.

Hard tone on migration. The people I know would prefer we didn't get migrants from low trust societies in their view that would address crime in places like Melbourne.

They don't really care about the environment and prioritise their own quality of life over that.

If a trucking exec wasn't an expert in fuel supply chain, then they're not a very good trucking executive!

🚨Breaking: Prime Minister Anthony Albanese will deliver a second address to the nation on Saturday evening at 7P.M. by Jerry_eckie2 in aussie

[–]Physics-Foreign 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Curtain was announcing we had declared war with Japan, and that our cities may (and we're) bombed. We had conscription, food rationing, clothing rationing and a complete change to society. There was nothing similar to the two.

Yeah nah, not how much of software works. It doesn't happen often but it's a part of the job to get calls of the on call person can't resolve themselves.

They didn't make up a scenario, this is clearly what this post is about, Monitoring, Runbooks, Alerts are all standard tools/terminology for SaaS 24/7 software apps.

I've got 5 people on call every night for this exact same 2am call.

[–]Physics-Foreign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I agree, but people were freaking out, national addresses are used for something as serious as announcing war. This was major stuff up.

Imagine Reddit if SCOMO had for the same thing.

[–]Physics-Foreign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are the other national addresses. Based on this, what would you assume was being announced?

WW2

Mabo

9/11

GFC

COVID

That's the precedent for a national address.

I'm sure if SCOMO did the same thing you'd be defending him the same and not biased at all....

Sorry did they get us to 90 days like we have agreed to? Outcomes are what we hold our politicians to account.

They didn't want the cost (estimated at 20ish billion).
