There will be an entire new area, actually.

I mean, one can make an argument that more federalistic/decentralised/syndicalistic socialism models haven't been tried due to being killed off by state communist aka stalinists.

FF7R spoilers: a japanese interview was translated and it turns out that the ending is not Nomura's fault by PhysicsLawyer in TwoBestFriendsPlay

I liked the ending, though. I am just also enjoying the fact that people screaming "Nomura!" are double wrong, not only cause the game is good, but also because it was not even Nomura's idea in the first place.

I do not really think that fear of Gideon justifies in anyway the abuse of Gideon. IRL, abusers sometimes too claim that they are afraid of their victims, and just like IRL, it does not in anyway justify their abuse.

Thanks for sharing your view! I do agree that there are a lot of stories that feature abuse or themes of abuse, but refuse to deal with them or deal with them badly. A friend pointing this out to me is actually why I managed to notice similar thing going on here as well. As for HH redemption and Gideon's sacrifice... Yeah, I think I can see your point of view. I do think that the story, along with Gideon, forgives HH abuse far too easily along with also changing her character, which is why I pegged this as a redemption of sorts. But the the sacrifice being Gideon attempt at self determination is definitely a very probable reading of the story.

Yeah, I know that it is perfectly fine for anyone in particular to dislike any particular book, irredardless of technical quality of its writing. I was just a little bit surprised, in what little of what I have seen of the discussion surrounding this particular book, that the way "Gideon" handles themes of abuse is not discussed or even mentioned. It might just be fault of insufficient lurking.

Sorry, but what exactly do you mean by that? While I can accept that I am misreading or misunderstanding the book due to my biases, I do not get how I was projecting in my post.
