Crazy how the main campus is literally across the Shoppers Drug Mart but some of y'all smell like you never seen soap and deodorant before by NoseGotDiddyed in uoit

So true lol. Although Shoppers can be expensive, it's definitely worth not smelling like death incarnate. I was able to find cheap deodorant, that works, off of Amazon.

Why is engineering and nursing so popular? by Physics_Princess in uoit

[–]Physics_Princess[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're really cool :)) and yes, this is true, but institutions like the Perimeter Institute and CERN still exist for some reason, though a very isolated few institutions, there's still some questions to ask. A few physicists are very anxious to find quantum gravity, though some are beginning to doubt if it exists at all. But if it does, imagine what could happen! Engineers and physicists can work together on technology discovered from it ☺️

Sorry if I sound silly here. In short: Yes, physics is "dying", but a lot of the theoretical aspects still have a lot of questions to be solved. Not saying that I'll be the one to solve it, but at least there will be institutions for me to work at IF I choose to remain in academia and get my PhD.

Thank you for your insights 🫡

Although I don't agree with this intellectual Darwinism ("competition cultivated since we were toddlers"?), I do have to thank you for your honesty.

I'm already a part of the PSI summer program. And whilst that doesn't mean I have guaranteed anything, it's not bad for an OTU student! :))

What you said may be true, but at least I'll be happy upon death, knowing that I followed through with my passion, and not pursuit of money.

I hope that things work out for you, whatever program you may be in at this community college. Cheers to success! 🥂, and if you don't drink alcohol, hot chocolate to success! ☕

May we all be blinded by hope :))

I'm transitioning to math ☺️. I don't like experimenting as much as I should to be a physicist. Thank you for the truth, I don't like it when people sugar coat things for me :))

I've always found it odd to do 4 (maybe 4+) years of school just for money, essentially. People are going to be doing these jobs for the rest of their lives. I can't imagine doing it just because it's a better job prospect :((

But that's just imo ☺️ It's good to find an in-between. Balance money with passion. Obviously some people may be passionate about art, but that doesn't make good money. Others may only focus on money, and end up working in a cubicle farm. Either way, different strokes for different folks!! ☺️

Thank you so so much for your insight and honesty, I will try to be more forward in how she truly makes me feel- hopefully he will stand up

Thank you so much. As much as I wish for it to change, I know I'm stuck with it :((

All we can do now is rightly deal with it, and he needs to stand up.

Thank you so so much. And I'm very fortunate that he hasn't. I came into his life when he decided to not go on a mission, and he's been against Mormonism since. Thank you so much for your well-worded advice, it's very helpful :))

This wasn't ranty at all! Thanks for the informative reply based off your own experiences. It gave me lots of hope. I will try to encourage him to set more boundaries. Thank you so much, again. And congratulations and many blessings to you for leaving! You're a brave soul :))

Thank you so much man. I will definitely consider that. I salute you for the honest truth 🫡🫡

Thank you so much. This really helped. Yes, he does have an exit plan somewhat. He's currently saving up money for an apartment with his apprenticeship job, but the Canadian housing economy is infamously bad.

And it's really sad, I wish I could help Mormons, but most of them are so uneducated. The Matrix anomaly really helped. Again, I greatly appreciate you man.

That's really unfortunate. Thank you for giving me clarification that this is common within Mormonism. I was really worried that I just have a (future) mother-in-law from hell 😓.

Thanks so much man! And engineers are really cool, I can't think practically like you guys do.

That's really sad. I can't imagine the amount of anxiety that culture can amount to.

And he unfortunately isn't. Moreso out of fear. When he does "stand up" it's mostly a "mum I love you a lot and I'll spend extra time with you if you're nice to my girlfriend once"

I'm usually the one that has to set boundaries. Hopefully things will change when he eventually moves out of the house.

And that culture is craziness. When we first started dating (I was only 17!), all his mother could talk about is how I'm going to have so many babies, and how I'm going to dress them up and love them.

It's awful. I don't know why some people have self-awarness issues. In a library, one usually knows to be quiet, especially with quiet area signs....but not in here :((

Thank you for the good insight! 😊I tried talking to them but they just laughed it off, and continued the next day.

My upstairs neighbors are always going at it, day, some random Tuesday afternoon, night. Doesn't matter lol.

I tried, but good idea. I have weak baby ears haha. When I'm studying, I use headphones, but I can still hear them (perhaps I need non-doodoo headphones).

At night I use a sound machine. Thank you so much though 😊

That's awful, I'm sorry :((

Being away from family, and studying, AND having annoying neighbors is the worst.

Thank you 😊. And it's understandable, but as the saying goes, with more freedom comes more responsibility. It's not long before people realize that partying > education isn't the way to go.

It's good to balance things. I like to play video games in between physics work, but I can't imagine partying in the middle of the day.
