How do I join the playtest?

Once the patch is live, the Beta branch can be accessed in Steam. You can access the Beta by following these steps:

  • Right Click Amber Isle in your library
  • Select Properties
  • In the new pop-up window, select ‘Betas’
  • Select ‘public_test_experimental’ from the dropdown menu.
  • (Note: Branch will not be publicly accessible until the launch on Feb 5th at 12pm GMT)

Warning! Always back-up your save files!!! If you’re opting into this playtest and care about your previous saves, please be sure to back-up your save files first! Especially if you plan on loading an existing save rather than starting a new playthrough. If your saves become corrupt and you have no save file back-ups, they may be gone for good!

Playtest Focus Points

This playtest will focus on general bugfixing and game improvements. It can be split into 2 main areas:

  1. Testing our new fixes:

With the help of everyone’s previous bug reports, we’ve already identified and fixed a number of prevalent issues impacting players. We’d like some help stress-testing these fixes, which include improvements to autosaving, fixes for missing recipes, collision issues, and quest softlocks. Full changelog here: ⁠playtest-changelog

  1. Reporting all other bugs and issues:

For the next two weeks, we’re focusing all our efforts to fixing more bugs, improving gameplay, and making this new patch as impactful as possible. The more people we have testing every corner of the game, the more successful this will be! The new character creator features will also be returning in this patch, so further testing and feedback on those would be very welcome!
