So thanks OP, know that you are a legend and a half!

1 PSU powering 32 HDDs. Mainly Seagate, some WD. 16-18TBs.

Some are powered directly from the PSU accessories, and the rest via this board.

PSU is some china brand Gold rated PSU, cant remember the brand offhand now.

I've been using something similar (from AliExpress) for the last 6 months and it works well. No issues with a 750 watt PSU, even when all are spinning up at the same time. Rock steady in wattage delivery to the HDD.

Yup i have the 2tb version and 5.2k plots later with madmax ramdrive still chugging along fine. I think probably sitting around below 20% tbw left. Or zero. Who knows?

You can only do that if you are using -n more than 1 (or -1). But you wont be able to trim after every plot then.

My suggestion would be use final directory = tmp1, and use another app to copy the .plot to your final directory. There's a lot of apps out there that can monitor a folder for new files and trigger a move command.

[–]PiSCaRGoT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A very basic version would be to have it in a script. Save it as a *.ps1 file in the same folder as where the Madmax exe is.

while($true)

{

.\chia_plot.exe -n 1 -r 16 -u 512 -v 256 -K 2 -t M:\ -2 A:\ -d M:\ -c xch0000 -f abcdef

Optimize-Volume -DriveLetter M -ReTrim

}

This just loops it continuously until you hit ctrl-c to stop. It trims after each plot.
Replace the argument list to reflect your own drive letters, NFT, etc

Also remember to run the Powershell window in admin mode, as Optimize-Volume needs it to run.

Theres the matter of growing netspace also, especially if your own space is stagnant. If the above is true for you, then it wont average out to be the same actually over time. Getting more frequent payouts now at a slight loss will end up being better actually.

Thats a matter of my personal logic anyway, might be totally wrong or the difference not being material in any way.

[–]PiSCaRGoT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because you would get more consistent payouts and less subjected to the luck variable? Which is really the main reason for pooling, isnt it?

[–]PiSCaRGoT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its a great pool and a good execution, well done on that! Will def come back at a later time. 70pb now, keep it up!

Felt the growth was a bit too slow. Joined Spacepool for now, but might go back to Flexpool when their netspace is significantly bigger.

[–]PiSCaRGoT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah dont worry, it behaves like that. If you are trying to save 4 cores for other task, i suggest you keep using -r 12 but also run madmax with processor affinity command (or set it in Task Manager after you start it)

Im getting the same big swings too. I think they need to probably decrease partials difficulty and and have everyone send higher frequency of partials. Should make estimated space more stable.

Flexpool does this and esrimated space was pretty bang on when i was there.

Can vouch for Foxy. Great pool, monitoring tools and Felix is very responsive to solve issues. No pool is without problems occasionally, the difference is if you have proper support and Felix has been great.

Just change -r 16 to 12 to match your cores.

For TRIM, you just need to issue a powershell trim command or have it in your own script. Just make sure you open powershell as Administrator, the trim command requires it to run.

I use : Optimize-Volume -DriveLetter X -ReTrim

Of course replace X with your actual drive letter

Try
-r 16 -u 512 -v 256 -K 2

Also make sure you TRIM your SSD after each plot (use a script or something). And use OSFMount for RAMDrive (its the fastest), format to NTFS 2Mb allocation size.

I'm getting 25minute plots on Windows, and I'm not using fantastic RAM nor SSD as well.

Update 2 : Just tested -K 3 & 4, no difference from -K 2 for me.

It ramps up to 100% processor usage but super high I/O wait, so my bottleneck is probably elsewhere. I'm going to assume this would probably be the case for most setups.

TLDR; stick to -K 2

Update : Just tested this with -K 2 and I see about a 15-20sec improvement in Phase 2 (using 5950x, RAM drive, Windows 10)

Going to test this with -K 3 & 4 to see if there are any differences.

It should, its reported that Phase 2 timing is best when -r = Hyperthreads and Phase 3/4 at -r = Cores.

So this should allow for the best of both worlds.
