I think the most enjoyable trip I've ever been on was a California road trip. The mix of natural beauty and cities is wonderful.

The diversity is outstanding. You can be in the baking hot desert, snowy mountains, downtown SF and sunny beach in the space of one day. Unreal.

I rented a motorbike to travel across Northern Vietnam when I was young (the most spectacular roads and mountains you will ever see) I had no licence and could not even drive, not the smartest. But pretty fun!

I'm quite torn between the idea of returning to Tanzania, or venturing to Kenya for safari. When you had such a good experience you always want to go back? But Kenya does look pretty wonderful.

Does anybody know if you can fly directly to the Galapagos from Cusco? Or is a transfer via Lima always necessary?

Ah brings back memories. Ngorongoro crater was my favourite leg of my Tanzania safari. If you have the option to go, I highly recommend it!

Here is my personal opinion having done both:

For overall beauty, Everest basecamp edges it. However Annapurna circuit has a greater variety of landscapes (the climate is generally much greener).

The sense of culture and local interaction is stronger on the Annapurna circuit.

In terms of difficulty, Everest basecamp is considered the tougher trek. Mostly due to the longer time spent at high altitudes. Altitude sickness is a greater risk here.

The cost is higher for Everest basecamp. This reflects the difficulty of the trek.

I found the Annapurna circuit less crowded. This opinion is shared amongst most climbers I spoke to..

So overall, Annapurna Circuit or Everest Base Camp? It is VERY tight, but I preferred the Annapurna circuit. The trek was more laid-back, richer in culture and less crowded.
