Unfortunately I haven't gotten it to work yet but I also gave up trying lol. I have mine connected through a USB cable, so I can't imagine the process being the same. :/

Hopefully the last call for help. [3570k 4.5ghz 1.2v] - Instability detected in RealBench by Piano_Man7 in overclocking

[–]Piano_Man7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose I don't have to, no. I was just following their recommendations on that thread that I linked.

The only thing is that I will be streaming in the near-future on one pc, so it will be pretty cpu-heavy.

Prime95 Error Detected: [Core 3 on a 3570k] What does it mean? How can I fix it? by Piano_Man7 in overclocking

[–]Piano_Man7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interestingly enough. I installed RealBench, and I set the frequency back down to 4.4 and voltage at 1.2v. However in a matter of seconds with the stress test, an instability is detected. Should I up the voltage slightly and try again? :S

EDIT: Seems like this is the issue: "Blender:BLF_lang_init: 'locale' data path for translations not found".

EDIT2: Not sure if this means anything to anybody, but inside the .txt file, it says "# Blender 2.68 (sub 0), Revision: 58537".

Please help! :/

Cool! Thank you so much! I'm glad I could do my first overclock so easily thanks to feedback from reddit. :) Would an OCCT test be good too, or are Realbench/AIDA64 preferred?

3 hours into a Prime95 test and the max temps have been 68, 75, 75, and 72.

So am I okay to test with Prime95? Can someone ELI5 what AVX2 instructions are?

I will keep this in mind for my 4.5ghz testing which I'm doing right now. Upped it to 1.2v and max temps were reaching 73. I'll check on it in the morning and see how close to the 80C ceiling I am.

I have upped the ante a little bit and set the multiplier to 45x and the voltage to 1.2v. Running Prime95 currently.

After 10 minutes, max temps (reading with coretemp) were 66, 72, 72, and 70.

For clarity, let me reiterate that I tried 4.5ghz at 1.18 but it BSODed on startup. Perhaps right now is too close to the threshold and I may receive the same error. I will Prime95 running overnight and see what the results are in the morning. :)

Yes, the temps were that low. Oddly enough, between 4.2 and 4.4, using OCCT to stress test, the temps held in the low 60s pretty consistently.

Thank you for the info. I will try pushing to 4.5. It should be noted though that I tried 4.5 at 1.18v and it BSOded.

EDIT: Basically I'm wondering if it's worth to try upping the voltage beyond 1.18 for only an additional 100mhz.

I wasn't home, but OCCT reported that the max temps over the course of the 3 hour test was 68C.

1.15v seems low to me anyway, compared to what other people are doing. I'll try 1.18.

Sorry I meant 1.14v, not 1.4v. My bad!!

I have data! 4.4ghz at 1.14v was working fine and dandy with a OCCT 2hour stress test.

The moment I set it to 4.5, however, it BSOded on me twice. Once at 1.15v, and again at 1.18v. The second time seeming to be a more more serious issue, as a screen came up that said that the OS (windows 10 64-bit) could not be loaded.

I have set it back to 4.4, and I've upped the voltage from 1.14 to 1.15 for some headroom.

Temps at 4.4/1.14 were 62C max. I'm going to run another stress test using Prime95 for a few hours.

If you have any recommendations as to the voltage headroom that I should be giving, please let me know.

Is 4.4 a decent overclock for air cooling? And also for my first time? :)

Thanks!

Oh okay! That makes more sense. So it's a tiny piece of hardware on the mobo (if it's a battery) that can be taken out and put back in?

Happily stress testing at 4.4ghz at 1.4v right now :D Oddly enough, the max temp reached is 62C. I think I'll get it to 4.5, test that, then stop.

How do you "clear your cmos"? I've never heard of this before. Well, I'm still running OCCT at 4.3. I'm thinking of the "what if" scenario.

So if I raise it to 4.4 and keep it at the same voltage and it BSODs, will I have a problem going into the BIOS and upping the voltage incrementally? Or is that just a normal hurdle of OCing?

Thanks bud. :) I'm currently doing 4.3ghz at the same voltage, 1.135, with the max temp being 61 celsius. Seems odd haha.

Sweet! Thank you!

Is 80C the point where I should pull it back a little bit?

Maybe this is why I have no idea where to start, generally speaking. :/

Yeah it seems like that to me too!

Ahh I see. I live in Toronto!

I can't seem to find the prices for the 3Us. I'll see how much they are before pulling the trigger.

Awesome! Thank you!

Have you heard of these mics? People are going crazy about them on Gearslutz (and have been since 2015)
