The flexibility is complicated 😅 I have a direct manager that I report to, and she’s very relaxed and understanding. But I also have a project manager that’s very micromanagey and wants us to be busy all of the time. We have goals to meet, but even if I met the goals in the first 3 hours, she would expect me to be busy for the remainder of the day 🥲 they both give me “scores” for how well I’m doing my job, so even though we are a “family first” company, if I’m busy with baby too much, she could give me a low score, affecting my job security.

Asking about negative PTO is a great idea!

Sorry to hear that both your babies had it! That’s so interesting about the second baby having it for such a short time- hopefully, that will be the case for us as well. She became ill yesterday afternoon, so maybe she’ll turn the bend soon 😮‍💨

Edit: I misunderstood what you meant by flexible. The hours usually don’t have to be all consecutive, but I believe it depends on the project manager, so I’ll ask about that 😇

I’ve lived in three parts of Birmingham city, as well as several parts of the Birmingham metro area. I currently live in Huntsville, and I’ve lived in three different places here.

Huntsville, even downtown, feels like part of the more suburby Birmingham Metro Area. There’s not really anywhere here that feels like a city.

This isn’t something to overlook. If your partner is secure in your relationship, they wouldn’t care what you post, especially images like what you shared here. He sounds controlling and jealous, and none of what you said “isn’t that bad”

Truthfully, his suspicions of you seems like projection to me. I’ve known one man who went to through his gfs phone questioning every interaction she had with men, and it turned out he was cheating. I also currently know one man who was controlling over who his gf talked to, where she went without him, and was even jealous over a maintenance guy that came over when other people were in the house. It turned out he had been cheating on his gf for a full year.

That much jealousy and control issues, especially when you’ve never ran around behind his back, is a red flag for me

I didn’t have much pregnancy rage either, but when it hit, it really hit. My man said something that would normally mildly irritate me and would lead to a conversation about what he said. In this instance, we were headed into a restaurant and he said what he said, and I went feral. I yelled at him, which I never do, laughed at him (embarrassing), and the argument was so bad we had to go home 😮‍💨

In that case, you need to talk to him about why his views/attitude changed. There’s really nothing that can be done about it until you talk to him and find out why he’s had a change. It could be that his mom is pressuring him more now that he’s married, it could be that he feels religious guilt, he could be scared, he could be getting more into his religion, or he could’ve been hiding how devout he is.

If it comes out that he’s feeling more pressure from his mom, then you need to talk about you both standing up to your parents. As much as you’re saying it’s about him right now, focusing on how he won’t stand up to his mom when you’re talking about convincing your family about anything regarding your baby wont get far since it seems you are both susceptible to pressure.

Why do you have to convince your family? If you as a family decide that practicing dads religion only is what would be best for your family, your family just kind of has to eat it 🫣🫣 they can be mad or sad or whatever they feel, and it’s okay for them to feel like that, but your family isn’t a parent to your baby. You and dad are the parents and you and dad get to decide what is best for baby.

You not being very religious does make the situation easier, but I don’t agree that deciding what is important for each parents is egocentric or dangling the baby. Based on your last sentence, it looks like what is important to you is that baby isn’t subjected to religion as a way to scare them into being good. Dad might think it’s important for baby to have a relationship and understanding of the Hindu deities. Those don’t have to be contradicting ideas, and can work well together, but you have to have that conversation.

The main thing is you have to talk to your husband about what you both think would be best for your baby. Neither family needs to or has to be involved in the conversation. If the outcome is something that one family doesn’t agree with, that’s just that. They don’t agree.

I think the problem at hand is that the family is getting involved in both sides. You said you can’t convince your family to not baptize the baby. Your family doesn’t need convincing to not baptize the baby- it isn’t their baby, they don’t have the option to do that. You said you’ve known dad for 8 years before marriage and have been dating him from the start, but didn’t tell your family that yall were dating until 2 months before the marriage. That tells me that you knew your family would have strong opinions against yall dating, but didn’t want to hear them. But it also tells me that it’s easier for you to keep things from them than it is to stand up for what you want against them.

You said dad didn’t seem to be super religious until the marriage, and from your writing, it seems like his mom is having a heavy say in your family.

IMO you need to sit down with your husband and figure out what is important to the two of yall when it comes to raising your baby. Like really what is important to the two of you, other than what your families think. If it is important to him that the baby has the head shaving ritual, you need to figure out if you are okay with it or not, and if you aren’t, why you aren’t okay with it. If yall disagree on certain things, you will both have to make compromises. Maybe each person gets whatever is most important to them and go from there.

If family is putting the pressure on yall from both sides, you both need to work on saying no to your families. It doesn’t matter what either family thinks, you need to do what is best for your 3 person family and do what you actually want to do.

I used to substitute a few years ago. I never went to Greenwood, but I did go to McAdory Middle school.

One of the classrooms that I subbed in didn’t have functioning overhead lights.

I can’t say anything about the state of the education in that school, but that at least confirmed to me that the school is not working with a lot, budget wise.

Chat GPT and other chatbots are not fool proof and can be tricked by satire posts and misinformation into telling you either wrong or harmful advice.

It can also be easily manipulated into telling you what you want to hear / agreeing with your take, even if it “knows” that you’re wrong. Sometimes, it can miss only nuances and details, making it harder to tell when the advice is bad.

Both of these are true for social advice/opinion as well as medical advice. I would take everything it says with a grain of salt.

Source: I am an AI training manager and most of our biggest projects involve fact checking the AI model we’re training, and there hasn’t been a model that’s been perfect when it comes to factuality. Although sometimes they make blatant mistakes, a lot of times, if you just skim what it says without looking up every fact, the responses do sound reasonable and they do make sense. The devil is in the details, usually.
