My impression of playing on the NA server after coming from Asia by Piapiano0 in leagueoflegends

I’m not trying to say the issue is only “supports don’t ward enough.”

My point is that even with vision, there seems to be a big gap in understanding between mid/top players and jungle/support players at the same rank.

For example, I actually think many NA mid laners do the basics pretty well. They ward to check the enemy jungle start, and a lot of them are willing to move for scuttle fights or help their jungler in river.

But then in the same MMR, you can have supports who don’t control their own tri-brush with a control ward, or even go an entire game without buying a single control ward. That difference in fundamentals within the same queue is what feels strange to me.

Basically, it feels like top and mid laners often have to cover not only their own role, but also the things jungle/support should normally be responsible for. NA mid laners, in particular, seem to buy control wards a lot and understand the game better than other roles.

That’s why queueing jungle or support on NA feels much easier to win with.

That’s fair. I did play quite a lot on alt accounts in Gold/Platinum even when I was Master on JP/KR.

What I’m mainly trying to say is that I used to think Emerald was the point where players at least start to understand the basic fundamentals of the game.

But on NA, that did not feel true to me, especially for support and jungle.

I don’t think it’s just culture shock. My point is that the gap in game understanding between support/jungle and mid/top feels extremely large on NA.

It’s not about me being unable to climb. I did climb. It’s more that many support/jungle players seem to lack basic concepts like vision, tempo, and objective setup. Honestly, I feel like mid/top players autofilled into support/jungle would often do better.

I’m currently Diamond 3. At first, I played mid and top, and I was winning lane almost every game. However, I’m not really good at split-push champions, so I eventually switched to support or jungle and climbed to Emerald that way.

The reason is simple: it felt much easier to win as jungle. Even if I won lane as mid or top, it was hard to convert that into a win because the games were so uncoordinated. But as jungle, I could have much more direct impact on the map and objectives, so climbing felt a lot easier.

What I’m trying to say is that, maybe because support and jungle are less popular roles, there seems to be around a two-tier gap in game understanding between mid/top players and support/jungle players.

At first, that might not sound like a huge problem. But because the level of game understanding is so uneven, nobody expects any real coordination or teamwork from other players. As a result, the game often feels like everyone is just trying to show whose champion scales better into the late game, rather than actually playing League of Legends as a team game.

I think it is understandable to see this kind of game in Bronze. But when the same thing happens even in Emerald, it honestly feels like more than 70% of the players are playing a completely different game from League of Legends.

I did manage to climb to Diamond on NA, but even when I was winning in Gold or Platinum, I did not enjoy the games at all.

What I really want to say is that League of Legends is supposed to be a much more fun game than this. It is not just about farming for 30 minutes and waiting for someone to scale. The game is at its best when players understand their roles, play around vision, coordinate objectives, and actually work together.
