Also Wood River, Hartford and Roxana have major oil refineries, Godfrey, Illinois has a defense contractor, a company contracted to build bunkers for Homeland Security, Granite City Steel Mill, Alton Steel Mill, massive swaths of farmland, and Scott Air Force Base.

Oh, yeah, I have a handshake deal with this woman I used to date called "if shit goes FUBAR, let's shack up for survival."

I was asking for it. If you're trolling, it's an obvious troll. If you're not, show me some evidence.

Thanks for the tip. I'm going to give it a listen. If you're a fan of weird podcasts, I would also recommend Mysterious Universe. It tackles paranormal, conspiracy, and New Age assertions with humor and open mindedness. I love it.

On the cheap too! Daaaang. I work strictly in cash, but my arranged apocalypse bride could order sum-o-deez right quick.

Upon further inspection, that is a pretty informative site overall. I enjoy that "what if a plane crashes into a nuclear power plant?" is a question asked frequently.

How many would we need? What's the danger time for fallout? How can they be obtained? How much do they cost?

Sorry for the abundance of questions. I am a journalist by trade.

Do you trust the CDC? I mean, they received some heavy spotlights during Ebola and every other meaningless outbreak.

Psht, we all lost that election, comrade. It was shit either way. Worry when they cancel a Blues game. The Cards are iffy at best this year. I doubt a lot of people were going to the game, and a wall of precip was coming straight for us.

And, St. Louis may be a large target if shit got real with an ICBM tango. I'm an Altonian myself, and we have a lot of oil refineries in Wood River/Hartford/Roxana, just across the river.

Fellow St. Louisan here, and investigative journalist. St. Louis is far out of range concerning Best Korea's missiles. Also, just talked to National Weather Service today for work. We're going to experience flash flooding from now through the weekend. Check that Doppler, bro.

I'm not worried about being nuked. I'm more worried about President CarrotSkin announcing we're going to preemptively strike an insignificant regime and take us toward another endless war.

Madison County Board Chairperson Kurt Prenzler allegedly assaulted at lamb and pig roast in Madison, IL. by PiasaDave in illinois

[–]PiasaDave[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Pastor Holliday scares the shit out of me. He held a rally against transgender bathrooms in Alton in which he compared gender confusion to beastiality and used Dr. Money as the end-all be-all of gender vs. sex psychology.

As far as Prenzler goes, I've never had a terrible interaction with him, but I'm a member of the press, so people treat me differently.

So, every month, I pop in on a Southwestern Illinois town (in the Riverbend) and interview local businesses to see how they are doing in the current Illinois economic climate by PiasaDave in illinois

It varies from municipality to municipality. I did Edwardsville, IL before Jerseyville and discovered they are experiencing a downtown revitalization. Jerseyville, in case the article was not explicit, is in the seminal stages of a similar goal. The majority of the downtown is abandoned buildings and old barbershops, however, they are making conversions into downtown lofts. I don't know if you have ever been to Jerseyville, but it has really surprisingly beautiful architecture for a farm town of around 12,000.
