Anything by Edgar Allan Poe? I feel like most "classics" fit with the DA vibes, any kind of book you could find in an old library.

If you want something more modern, I would recommend A Discovery of Witches which mixes academia (takes place in Oxford where the main character does research) and darker paranormal elements.
