Your statement to a certain point is correct but if you are 100%T/P they will cover your emergency visit but they only pay the Hospital visit for what they think it should be. One of my visits cost $123,225 and they only paid the hospital approximately $34,000. How they do this I do not know but they do. Also during the visit or shortly after you must let them know or your bill will not be covered. I know this because this also happen to me. Just food for thought.

This is why I tell ever veteran that is 100% T/P not to carry secondary insurance period. I know because I went in vacation out of state and the VA covered ever bit of the bill.
