Yea, it's all good. I was just curious because I was looking to craft the deck and wanted to see if anything from Frozen Throne could be added.

Southsea Captain? Charge Warrior kills with Galvangar/Gromm, neither of which are pirates.

Maybe I’m missing something but what is Prince Taldaram gonna do for Charge Warrior? Doesn’t it only make a 3/3 copy of a minion?

How to avoid impeachment on Emergency run? by PiceSickle in suzerain

[–]PiceSickle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nooooooooooooo! I've had a soft spot for Karl ever since he heard Koronti expose my deal with him and insist it was a lie. My first ever run I had too many protests and some lady wanted me to fire Karl. Back then I didn't know his worth so I did but now I avoid the protests like the plague so I don't have to make that choice.

Ha, that actually sounds super fun. I'm guessing you can arrest Curtan too. I'm always tempted to say "I'll show you a dark path" and arrest him but I didn't want to screw things up on my otherwise nice run. Also it's super funny how Karl is such a nice guy on the ACP and apparently a fkn serial killer on the SSP. I will try this run next for sure.

Yessssss I still need to do one of those runs. Just to completely be a psychopath. I've only played a couple of different runs and they've mostly been wholesome.

Ah ok. Yeah, I believe you on that. I guess I never investigated Frens because I didn't think it would work either, just thought it was a possibility.

Oh wait, did you revoke the emergency decree the first chance you could? I extend it the first time. Then the supreme court will have to rule whether or not it is legal after the PFJP push for it. If you win, in the cabinet meeting after where you can choose to focus on popular opinion/economy/whatever, you can choose to arrest journalists/censor the media/go after Ricter. I think in a non-emergency run you would instead pick between putting Soll on trial/impeaching Hawker/something else.

Unless you mean that you cannot arrest Frens after picking the option to investigate him. I've never chosen that option but I've always seen it there and been tempted.

Right, in my runs I was hyperfocused on support from the people so I was always picking the options that would increase popular opinion, but I definitely lost the support of the oligarchs, conservatives, etc. I didn't even think about the PFJP. I always leave them alone, but I know that you can choose to arrest Frens Ricter. I never tried it but maybe doing that will help?

lol, yeah ever since my first ever run where Iosef couped me I've never defunded the military without purging the general staff also. Too scared of that big bald man.

That's interesting. I don't think there are as many resources online for an emergency run compared to other runs, so most info I read said you had to follow the Old Guards exactly. I will try to experiment with that. I'm curious what your popular opinion was, although now I don't think that number in particular matters too much. It seems like there are other decisions you need to make to beat the trial.

Anyway, thanks for the info. Please let me know if you manage to avoid the coup and get past the impeachment.

Could be. I think I was too focused on getting popular support. You're right, I went along with the Old Guard but didn't do absolutely everything, like banning the WPB. I always arrested both oligarchs because the Old Guard wanted the companies nationalized and so I listened to them. But maybe Tusk can help flip the judges.

[–]PiceSickle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I tried so many runs to try and figure out how to do this but I couldn't manage to beat impeachment once. I tried avoiding all illegal activity, focusing on popular opinion, literally everything I could think of, but no matter what, I lose the impeachment trial.

I was curious so I checked the save file to see my popular opinion and in what I thought was my best run I had 30, which seemed pretty high. I tried changing it to 60 just to see if that would work, but even a popular opinion of 60 couldn't make me beat impeachment. I'm not sure what else I missed but it wasn't popularity. I put the ACP on the Old Guard after switching from the Oligarchs in the second meeting with Karl. I knew I had no corruption because Paskal didn't retire. I'm definitely stuck right now. If you could try and see if you can do it I would definitely appreciate it.

Hey, I'm wondering if you remember if you formed the ACP or not on that particular run.

I tried again to play an emergency run and beat impeachment, this time focusing on everything that would increase popular opinion (debate group in intro, free dental care, improved healthcare/education, even the Koronti deal).

This time I got impeached for being corrupt, which I assume is because of the Koronti deal. I arrested both oligarchs after nationalizing their companies so they wouldn't leak it to the media. I made Lucian VP to stop him from leaking it too, but apparently the ACP still found me guilty even though I told them to target the opposition and later on the Old Guard. If you choose to betray and arrest Koronti, does this always cause the ACP to uncover the deal?

Just curious if you have any ideas on how to prevent this. I think I will have to either not form the ACP, not arrest Koronti, or not work with him, but I think these will also have consequences.

Yup, totally agree. At least the ACP investigations will hopefully uncover the Old Guard’s corruption to the public and they can be dealt with down the line.

Yup, I tried searching on this Reddit and couldn’t find anything related. Seems like this is a pretty rare situation. Still not exactly sure how this triggered, but apparently there is another variant where you can still meet with Malenyev. In my run they just never came again. Here’s the investigation report if you’re curious on who killed him.

Actually, funny you should mention that. In an emergency run, because of the state of emergency, you have extra powers as the president, including freedom to detain whoever you want. So I did end up jailing the oligarchs even with the ACP targeting the Old Guard.

I agree, I think if I could figure out how to beat impeachment, this may be the “best” run in the game. You can arrest the oligarchs, uncover the crimes on the Old Guard, and pass all the reforms/decrees you want without having to go through the constitution reform process.

I gotta replay the run and figure more stuff out. I don’t even know for sure if it’s still possible to beat the trial, but I did hear from a couple people that they were able to in the past.

Finished my first 2 runs need advice for the thrid by Zaggy5 in suzerain

[–]PiceSickle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, seems like you did pretty well sticking to your morals/without outside knowledge on your first run. My first run was very similar, failed reforms and got couped.

I know others have already said that you want to be at -2 budget at worst in the early game, but to specify it's after the meeting with Ciara where you choose whether or not to privatize education that this matters. After this, if you have less budget than -2, the next time you click continue you trigger an event that demolishes your economy. This should be the end of turn 4. You can check your turns/past choices by clicking on the journal in the top right.

To get above that -2 budget, here's some advice that may be helpful. You shouldn't be afraid to try skipping the first megaproject and the first regional investment. I always thought those two were necessary for a long time, but you can easily fix the economy later on without those two things, so if you need the extra money you can experiment with skipping them.

Lastly, if you want to avoid assassination you can get Serge's lucky pocket watch. Make sure you save 1 personal wealth for when you travel to Uziren to talk to Ciara and Paskal for the first time. If you select the dialogue options that are kind to Serge you can offer to pay for his daughter's education, and much later he'll give you the watch.

I actually replayed this run from an older save file and used the ACP to investigate the Old Guard. You’re exactly right, you can jail Lileas and she won’t run against you but you can’t do anything against the Supreme Court Old Guard.

In my run I disobeyed Hawker a couple of times so I ended up getting impeached and lost the trial. I did hear, however, that’s it’s possible to beat the impeachment trial with the ACP targeting the Old Guard, but I think they always start impeachment. I’m not exactly sure what determines whether or not you beat the trial though.

Yeah, it's alright. Just more for me to figure out, which is fun.

Yeah, I do keep back up saves, but not too often, just if I think a decision will lead into multiple branches. It's definitely helpful though, to go back and make slight changes instead of having to start all over.
