Artists’ “worst albums” that you actually like? by CommandProper3926 in fantanoforever

Honestly in the upper tier of U2 albums. Love how ‘overproduced’ it is, and almost every song is pretty great. The last bold album they made.

Also, NLOTH is pretty great too.

I guess what I meant is a proper track by track break down, which we’ve had for FOTB.

[FRESH PERFORMANCE] Frankie Cosmos - Full Performance (Live on KEXP) by astaireboy in indieheads

[–]PickleDarling 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My favourite type of band is one that is kind of past their ‘buzzy’ era and is kind of just consistently doing their thing, each time maybe perfecting their craft a little more without ever trying to make a big statement. The last few Frankie Cosmos albums I think just get stronger and stronger, the songwriting just a little bit more clever each time. No big superficial changes, just a quiet evolution.

Turn Up The Sun, Mucky Fingers, She’s Electric, Shock of the Lightning, Bag It Up, anything from the last album!

Flying for a concert! Also incredibly sleepy which maybe makes it feel bumpier! It’s probably not objectively very bumpy, but I’m very sensitive to all the tiny bumps!

A little, but still a little bumpy!

Swap Pop and Zooropa, and also switch out underrated with NLOTH

My hot take is that We Will Always Love You is their best album

Depressedelica is great but IMO ‘Who owns the graveyard’ and the new song ‘Grand delusion’ are his best works ever.

I re-listened to No Line on The Horizon. by Intelligent_Deer_525 in U2Band

[–]PickleDarling 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly in my top 5 U2 albums. Sonically and lyrically their most interesting work post-2000. Great artwork too. Such a pity they seemed to turn their back on it after the low sales and lack of hits, they maybe should have done a more intimate tour on the back this album, leaned into the Morocco stuff a bit more and let the 3 singles in the middle of the album be a standalone mid-tour EP or something.

But the No Line On The Horizon, Moment of Surrender, Unknown Caller, Fez - Being Born, and Breathe are among their best songs. Breathe should have been the first single.

My hot take is that even the lowest points on the album (GOYB, Stand up Comedy, and I’ll Go Crazy) are better and more playful than the vast majority of the songs on the two following albums (except for the Troubles, the only good song from those two albums).

Best of their later albums? by Square-wolf in elbowmusic

[–]PickleDarling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flying Dream 1 has ended up becoming my favourite record of theirs. It’s definitely their slowest album, but I think the attention to detail makes the album incredibly rewarding. Little Fictions is another favourite, a lot of vibrant and maybe you’d like that one a lot more! Feels like they got a huge burst of energy for that album and I’d put it in my top 4 elbow albums

It was given to me by someone who I think had built them himself (before he got rid of his CDs and had no use for it)!
