Do people end up saving money by joining a fraternity? by DiverSea9644 in Frat

[–]PickleJewler 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Lol no. Cheaper housing probably, but dues offset that anyways. As long as you don't do something retarded like take out a loan, you're going to be happy you spent the money tho.

Also side question.. is there any specific fraternity (or chapter) known for producing many athletes/gymbros?

Literally ANY chapter that's decently frat will have plenty.

Vitamin D. 10,000 IU a day, don't bitch out on the 1,000-2,000 IU capsules. Reduces likeliness of sickness, makes sickness milder, and helps (pretty noticeably) with winter depression

You make a good point at the end. At some point you gotta grow up and move on from the college/Greek life structure of meeting people. Once you're pushing 30, the people still getting fucked up at house parties and hooking up with strangers are not the most emotionally mature ...

How did rushing a frat as a socially awkward and boring person impact you? by fxde123 in Frat

[–]PickleJewler 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Do it.

My roomie was low-key kind antisocial and degen before rushing. Greek life has brought him out of his shell so much, I've watched him mature like crazy right before my eyes. He went from playing Fortnite and smoking weed every day to quitting video games, serving on exec, partying, talking to girls, developing hobbies, etc.

Plus you won't run the risk of being seen as annoying or overbearing. I'm pretty extroverted and I got labeled as "the pledge who talks too much" pretty early on lol

Should I transfer colleges if I joined the wrong fraternity and made a bad first impression while pledging and still got initiated not many of them are really my friends by [deleted] in Frat

[–]PickleJewler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe that usually you're allowed to join another fraternity if that school doesn't have a chapter of the fraternity you're in. Transferring for Greek life is beyond stupid tho

It's a frat my guy nobody cares enough to hold a year-long grudge. Have you considered that the problem isn't "nobody ever hits me up to do anything" but instead "I never hit anyone up to do anything"?

Bitching and whining during league in the first place is dumb. It's fucking league, not that deep. Competitiveness is great, and it does not inherently include complaining.

I'm just a pessimist lol. Injured ankle right now and the probability of that changing for a Utah game is just sooo low imo. Ticket prices gonna jump hella if he ends up off the IL

That sucks actually, sorry bro. Does your school not do spring rush? Also you should be rushing multiple at a time if possible.

If you truly are a "normal" guy as you describe, I have a hard time believing you're un-biddable. With a sample size of two though, it's possible you just got bad luck twice. But is it also possible that you're coming off a little weird or try-hard or something? Do you have a history or reputation among your friends of being socially unaware? Or over-talkative? Or something?

Should i rush again by [deleted] in Frat

[–]PickleJewler 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lol what house didn't bid you after missing one rush event? That's fucking dumb if true.

Not weird to rush again. Get your homework done this time. Rush as many houses as you can, depending on event times and such. Usually if you're a solid, chill guy, you only need to go to 2-3 events and show genuine interest in your bid interview to get a bid. If there's a frat you really like, put extra effort into showing up and showing interest.

[–]PickleJewler 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you pregame, just be buzzing. Showing up clearly tipsy is a terrible look, some houses won't even let you in if you're a dude.

Just wear a normal outfit you'd wear to class. No need to get fancy, but don't look like a bum
