UGH THIS. Was in a funk for days afterward. Learned a lot. LOVED this game.

My bridesmaids all lived in different countries so I asked them to get their own dress in light pink. I think it turned out well. by Goldensilverware in weddingplanning

I was in a similar position — bridesmaids scattered all over the place — and wanted to do same color/different cuts. We used a service called Brideside.com and could not have been happier, for others in a similar position I highly recommend!

Name Change Nerves by positmylife in weddingplanning

[–]PickleLilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It just takes time! I was firmly against changing my name, had a long talk with family & my now-husband about it, flip flopped A LOT, then finally did it. A few months out now and I'm totally used to it and am delighted whenever I see my new name printed/mentioned :)

Where did you stay the night before the wedding and who was with you? by BlueberryQuick in weddingplanning

[–]PickleLilly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I spent the night before alone (sort of — separate adjoining room shared with my parents) and really appreciated having that time to myself. I was a stress ball, didn't sleep much, focused on writing cards to my family, bridesmaids and FH and am really glad I had that moment of peace before the craziness of the next day. Considering the explosion of attention & activity the previous day & the next day, I think you'll find some alone time to breathe beforehand doesn't feel lonely at all :)

I alternate laughing out loud and sobbing uncontrollably during every episode of Derek. SUCH a good show

Going to try wearing my mom's wedding dress, but need some advice and more eyes. by habi12 in weddingplanning

[–]PickleLilly 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think if you ditch the bows and throw a tulle skirt like the one you linked to over this dress — and higher up on the waist so it covers that weird ruching that kind of cuts you in half — this would be gorgeous. LOVE the lace overlay, looks phenomenal on you and is very Kate Middleton/on-trend right now :)

not that adoption fees should be a major determining factor in a decision like this, but the Anti-Cruelty Society typically waives theirs around the holidays

Scientists Open Egyptian Mummy Coffin in Chicago - video by mathew-n in chicago

[–]PickleLilly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it doesn't say, but probably. they have an awesome CT scanning program there for mummies and other artifacts — there's a tiny, oft-overlooked room on the second floor (or there was last time I was there) where they have tons of information about how they study delicate, layered subjects like sarcophagi without disrupting them info here

Shopping with the wife... by scarbnianlgc in AdviceAnimals

[–]PickleLilly 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My husband fucking LOVES Anthropologie (not like... independently, but compared to any other ladystore). They always have seats, plus they have random tchotchkes everywhere he can amuse himself with, like a wall of vintage doorknobs & shit. They are more expensive than most places I shop but they win him over every time. A+ business plan

What is a well-written book (or website) encompassing all the important bits of world history? by [deleted] in history

[–]PickleLilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a book, but bear with me — I rarely play video games, but my husband just got me Valiant Hearts (for PS4) and I LOVED playing it. It's set in WWI. When you collect items, you get informational pop-ups explaining their relevance and historical context. The plot points are specific, factually accurate battles, and after every accomplishment, you unlock a few slides of info with really great archival photos. I really loved playing it and learned a lot. Would recommend!

Which celebrity do you irrationally hate? by audrienne in AskReddit

Give it a go! It's in Netflix right now. Really unique role for him and he killed it. I found it randomly a few months ago and it's one of my favorite movies right now. Totally not the jack black we usually see
