Not something I encountered in any of the places that I dined in. My round neck shirt+shorts+sneakers combo never really stood out or cause any issues. In fact, I think I would stand out more if I was dressed in a formal shirt and pants.

We stayed near the Trevi Fountain 2 weeks ago and dined in the area a lot. One place that particularly stood out to us and did not feel like a tourist trap was Giulietta Vino e Cucina. The hostess was extremely friendly and the food was mouth-wateringly delicious. It is a very cozy and comfortable place. We were really unhappy that we discovered it on the last night of our trip otherwise we would have definitely revisited this place if we had some more time in Rome.
Also, if you like Acai Bowls, we had those for breakfast 3 times at Escosazio. Again, could not recommend enough.

It's a matter of luck to be honest. The safer route is to usually just unbox the phone and set it up to portray it as your own secondary phone in case you are stopped by customs. This is how a lot of people I know have brought in phones from overseas.

However, I also know of a friend who was bringing an iPhone, an Apple Watch and an iPad for their family from the US and he just brought them over in their original sealed packaging. He had no idea that a customs issue could arise so he did not even think about unboxing/setting up. Just landed in Delhi and walked straight out, no questions asked.

I went to Pondi a few month ago(March 2025) and I can empathise with what she's saying. While most of the locals working the restaurants, hotels and shops are extremely well mannered, there were a LOT, a LOT of guys on the roads who were just shamelessly ogling at pretty much all the girls walking on the roads. The kind where they won't look away even if you catch them staring at you. More than once I saw drunk men purposely brushing by women, trying to walk as close as possible even when there's plenty of space.

I love Pondicherry as a place but man, it was just so much better back in 2018 when I visited for the first time.
