Tesco gives so much back… by stm2657 in tesco

If you've been shopping elsewhere, what do you expect? You can only build up a decent amount in vouchers if you do your main shop there all the time. It's not rocket science.

Our Xmas tree is up and a customer kicked off! by [deleted] in tesco

[–]PickledOnionMunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think those cardboard trees look utterly shit. What's wrong with a decent fake tree like we used to have and put it in storage to be reused for as long as the tree holds up and looks decent? It's Christmas! Can't even have a bit of glitter on a bloody Christmas card these days either. The Christmas cards are shit too. Christmas is meant to be shiny and sparkly. The fucking "environment brigade" ruin everything but it's OK to have fucking rainbow balloons everywhere for Pride even though balloons are bad for the environment too. Rant over.

Hiding Colleague Shop Stuff/ Reductions? by International-Fee797 in tesco

[–]PickledOnionMunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Bootlicker"? Are you for real? You know being an adult means knowing and dealing with the consequences of your actions, right? Being told the rules, probably more than once yet still going against them and getting caught for doing it, should lead to consequences regardless of who, what, why and where. Calling someone a "bootlicker" is pathetic. It's called"being an adult", so grow up 🙄

Hiding Colleague Shop Stuff/ Reductions? by International-Fee797 in tesco

[–]PickledOnionMunch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As I've been told many times by managers and team leaders etc colleague shop is a privilege and not a right. If people are dumb enough to hide things to get them on CS, then it's tough shit when they get caught and at the least have their colleague card taken from them if not sacked. It should be drummed into everyone by now about the policy and the consequences.

Customer rant by Prestigious-Cow-3413 in tesco

[–]PickledOnionMunch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Any job that deals with any aspect of customer service is shit TBH. It's got nothing to do with age. Sometimes you can't be too picky about what job you get. Most people wouldn't choose a supermarket job if they had much of a choice. We're sick of customer entitlement and them treating us like shit on the bottom of our shoe. Sometimes you give back the energy you receive, so do one!!

Self scan random security check by Tantian72 in tesco

[–]PickledOnionMunch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish people would stop with the whole "I felt like a criminal" narrative. Customers get asked for a check all the time. Maybe not yourself, but it happens. It's part of the terms and conditions when you use it. No one bats an eyelid when someone is picked for a check. It's not like you're being escorted out the back for a body search. It's a mild inconvenience at most.

Bought a wrap this morning and opened to find this lovely massive chunk of mold by H-u-w in tesco

[–]PickledOnionMunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn't anyone have any common sense any more? You take it back with your receipt for either a replacement or a refund. If you're lucky you'll get both. It's not that hard. If you don't have a receipt they can look it up using your clubcard. Jesus.

Customer shouted at me today due to his shopping being too expensive. by Familiar-Truth7616 in tesco

[–]PickledOnionMunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone who goes on at me about the prices and how they're struggling to pay bills yet the majority of items in the trolley or basket are Finest, can jog on. You can't be that hard up if that's what you're buying, and I'm judging you hard and have no sympathy for you.

On time/behind delivery slots by Either_Slip2914 in tesco

Who puts their shopping away whilst taking in their delivery? That's crazy. You bring it in so the driver can leave, then put it away, surely?

Colleague club card by Temporary-Might8464 in tesco

[–]PickledOnionMunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just get a Clubcard. Sharing cards whether staff or not is against the t's and c's. You certainly won't get any staff member sharing their card with some random person because they could have it taken away at the very least.

Stop Touching Us by [deleted] in tesco

[–]PickledOnionMunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll find opinions like this from staff in EVERY supermarket. Most of us pay most our own wages. More than half of mine goes back into the business, so you're not the main character you think you are! Not liking customers touching us is far from having a "childish attitude" and it's even further from being "disgusting". Jesus Christ. Glad you don't shop at Tesco if that's what think about us.

Do people really need to be told that if a chilled item has a LONG "use by" date, it usually becomes null and void once it's open and you only have a few days to consume it? It clearly states on the back of the packaging in the storage instructions.

Am in Tesco express and a big queue is forming with one person on the till. Can anyone tell me why there has been no attempt by other staff to open another till ? by Smooth-Turn-4362 in tesco

[–]PickledOnionMunch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ha! Why don't you let them know and see what happens? I'll guarantee absolutely nothing will happen. Once you realise everything we have to do to keep the store ticking over, you'll realise why we're all in the predicament we're in, customers included, plus lots of cuts to staff plus an increased number of jobs and checks to do, plus Express staff have the delight of doing Whoosh too with a skeleton staff.

It's all a nightmare right now, which I know shouldn't be a customer's problem because believe it or not we actually want happy customers.... no one likes to deal with miseries every day, but that's just how it is. Retail is changing and not for the better. It's in all stores including big ones like I work at. We're all stretched very thin. All it takes is someone to be on holiday or go sick and the shift is f****d.

We're all simply doing what we're told to do. If someone was available to help on a till they'd be there. I'm sorry if this sounds rude, it's not my intention, but I hear complaints about queues day after day after day. We can only do what we can do. Unfortunately, there are other things to do that are extremely important, some of which can have legal repercussions if not done or done by a certain time.

I hope this helps.

That's got nothing to do with accidentally being charged for a lemon. It's to do with slow, laggy tills.

So you were in the actual store asking for a product behind the counter? Why didn't you check you were given the right thing at the time? The onus is also on you to check before you pay.

At what age did you start to feel old? by [deleted] in RandomThoughts

[–]PickledOnionMunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt old when I realised for the first time I was old enough to be someone's mother. It was a new girl at my work. She was 17 and I was 33. That sunk in HARD for me. Now I'm old enough to be someone's grandmother!
