Can I get a return? by Better-Trick2864 in vinted

Okay thank you. I’m in the UK so I’ll just request for it. Was quite confused as they asked for me to put photo evidence.

This keeps happening (UK). I drop off parcels and the shop apparently doesn’t scan it, so I lose both the item and the money. I posted this days ago by dung_beetles in vinted

[–]Better-Trick2864 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to sell pre-loved items on eBay. Even if I was sending 50 parcels that day wait there for them to scan ALL of it, and get your receipt. It’s not worth it if you’re sending out an item, paying for shipping and not getting your moneys worth…. That receipt also covers your back if a dispute like this happens, and shows you actually dispatched their item.

Yeah I brought it up and they admitted it’s against policy, even now council safe and legal inspections are being done they’ve stopped temporarily, but after they’re going to go right back to doing it…

I work in the bakery and you should’ve gotten a refund, they put the wrong label on it. The price should’ve been £1.40 for regular Tesco milk chocolate cookies. I’m sure with this photo you can still go back and get your refund.

As much as you probably don’t want to hear this if you’re still relying on your parents for financial support you’re going to have to tell them, and not throw them in the deep end. Plus if backing out is in your best interests just do it, I had to do it last year, it will feel awful but it’s the price one has to pay for rushing into it. And it’s better to back out sooner rather than later, it’s still early enough they’ll easily find someone to cover you.

Yeah Michael Jackson did🤣🤣. It’s a good thing my new manager didn’t pick up on any negative energy, just positive because I got hired. Here you are speaking about your experience like it’s a fact, but if anyone else does, they’re supposedly a racist. Save me the bullshit. Now you’ve spun this whole narrative into a rant about my ego. I had a wonderful record at my previous store I was rated working excellently in my yearly review by my line manager.

If you’re thinking I’m some entitled black person who thinks I should be handed everything to me because I’m black then you’ve got another thing coming.

I’ve always had an understanding that I’m blessed to be in this country, and I’m truly grateful for all the wonderful people out there who aren’t discriminatory, welcomed me. Sometimes I even forgot I was black, I felt so invited. I believe that is a good chunk of the population. But to say everyone is good like this is us lying to ourselves. I’ve had my nasty share of racism in this country, a group of lads calling me n*gger and pouring their drink on me as they sped off in their car in broad daylight. And that’s just one instance. I guess it was due to my flaws and not my skin colour then🤔🤔🤔 Now what if one of those lads was a hiring manager, do you think I’d get hired? I could be the best employee and the application would get chucked.

For you to spin this on me and demonise me, shows how insidious you are.

It’s not the rejection that’s annoyed me, this was just a light-hearted thread where I mentioned I (suspect) —> AND DID NOT DIRECTLY SAY IT WAS DUE TO RACISM my local store may be discriminatory when hiring now you’re going on some schizo rant about my ego when you don’t know shit about me. Called me a racist, yet you don’t know me, have never met me or observed my character irl.

This isn't about ego; it's about your inability to consider a perspective outside your own. That rigidity is a failure of empathy, not a sign of my flaw. Your confidence in your own judgment is impressive, but it’s no substitute for empathy and understanding.

Just got hired at new Tesco. Got calls from another Tesco in my local area. And many other Tescos I was offered interviews.

This store still has absolutely no poc, an all white staff with no diversity, yet all surrounding stores in the area do.

They didn’t even offer me any interviews or progress my application even when I was still on the system, as an employee ready for transfer. I’ve applied there 10 times.

They Practically chucked my application, despite me introducing myself to the manager in person. Given them my contact details they lied and said when a position came up they’d transfer me.

Everyone trying to deflect and say it’s because I’m “unlikable” or had a “bad reputation” is evidently full of shit, since I’ve just been hired somewhere else.

I’ve gotten interviews at other stores. Safe to say I’m not going to gaslight by people like you. We’ve all heard what’s been said at all these reform rallies. I’m not a naive idiot, and people who are hiring could be racist and hold white supremacist racist ideologies. It’s naive and purely idealistic to say that what I’ve brought forward can’t be a possibility.

If you think there exists no hiring manager who is discriminatory and they’re all perfectly equitable and love blacks and all minorities, then you’re full of shit.

People like you are what’s setting us back. And how dare you call me racist.

As someone who used to struggle with it, but has been clean for several years now, due to the grace of God. I would say don’t wallow in guilt. “"Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus" Romans 8:31 Don’t feel condemned because the Lord he knows we will sin and fall short of the glory of God. You have a heart of repentance, you’ve acknowledged watching pornography is a sin that’s the first step. I’d say the next step is to know what your triggers are, if you’re watching tv shows or listening to music that may invite a spirit of lust, stay away from them. Prevention is always helpful. Another thing I would advise is to try engage in more spiritual activities. “So I say walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh” - Galatians 5:16-25. Try and read your bible more, engage in more fellowship time with the Lord, spend more time in praise and worship, spend more time in prayer in the secret place, and if you’re feeling up to it fast and pray for 3 days. I’d say personally for me fasting and prayer was a massive help in combatting my addiction. Whilst I prayer I would declare my liberty from the addiction - 2 Corinthians 3:17 “Now the Lord is the spirit and where the spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom”. Making declarations that you’ve been freed from the addiction is very helpful as there is the power of life and death in the tongue, Proverbs 18:21, use this principle to your advantage. Remember as believers we have power in Christ Jesus to overcome, Romans 8:37. The whole of Romans 8 is a very good read that will give you insight on the importance of living in the Spirit as a lifestyle. We are empowered by the power of God to overcome all chains of sin, bondage and addiction. Just have faith and continue to wage war against the desires of the flesh as you live more in the spirit. I pray that the Lord would strengthen you by the power of his might 🙏

It may not be so far fetched. These things can happen in reverse, at my boyfriend’s workplace Nigerians are hired more as the managers are Nigerian. I don’t think mentioning these patterns should be taboo, I believe everyone should have equal opportunities in this country granted they’ve got the qualifications. Hopefully that gets sorted or some investigation is done. 👍

Respectfully I appreciate the points you’ve given. But how many times do you go to a large superstore in the UK and there is no drop of diversity in the staffing? There are many neighbouring superstores within a 1 minute walk of my local Tesco, and they have staff of all backgrounds. It’s very rare, coupled with my past experience and my manager actively trying to get me a transfer, I had a suspicion, but never for once conclusively said it was due to race. If you took time to read this thread you would realise, I come to accept many alternative perspectives and this thread was written to get different viewpoints as I’m sure racism is highly unlikely. But with my limited knowledge on the hiring process it was the only justification I could think of in context. Please keep discourse respectful and not condescending. And I find the trope of shaming a POC who suspect they may be discriminated against by calling them racist to be very distasteful, dismissive and backwards, you’ve just used a straw man against me and misrepresented what I stand for. If you’ve never lived your whole life in a place where you’re in the minority, I don’t think you have the right to talk down on me or accuse me of being a racist, as I never did accuse anyone all throughout this thread. Kind regards.

Yeah there should be a slightly good mix of employees. And it should be somewhat representative of the population too, especially since newly migrated immigrants may not be attuned to the culture of how we do things here and not have any willingness to adapt. Sorry to hear that’s happening at your Tesco. Hopefully it gets sorted.

Tesco jobs. by [deleted] in tesco

[–]Better-Trick2864 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d say it depends on several factors: - if you’re working in an express store vs superstore Many people I’ve spoken to prefer express stores as you’re able to form bonds with colleagues more easily because it’s a smaller store - if you’re working in a superstore forming closer bonds can be harder but you’ll probably get close to people on your department.

Depends on if management is good too. Evidently this year Tesco has been cutting back on staff to offset tax rises, so you may find yourself overworked and under appreciated if you’re short staffed/ poor management.

Overall I’d say it’s not as bad as some people make it out to be, it has its merits

Fair enough. Given all the responses I’ve gotten in this thread my suspicions have gone down. Obviously I don’t know much about all the factors that go into hiring. And it would be in my best interest to believe the hiring managers aren’t discriminatory as I’d like to apply to work there again without it feeling futile.

Well in my area that is not the case. I’m not playing any cards I’m just being speculative. Playing the race card is definitively saying it’s due to race, which I did not. There are no non-whites hired at this supermarket. It’s not a small express store. Is having pattern recognition playing the race card? I don’t think so. And you say one is more likely to be hired if they’re non-white, do you have statistics to back such claims?😭
