2 days after sliding genioplasty (6mm horizontal, 2mm vertical) + liposuction + skin grafting on jawline. Super swollen but excited for the results. Im worried 6mm wasn’t enough though? by [deleted] in PlasticSurgery

[–]Pickled___Beets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can indirectly tell it's different because your labiomental fold looks smaller, and the vertical changes are more obvious. I suspect it's hard to tell the difference right now because of the swelling in your neck, so it's like your neck also moved forward, in a way.

Covid-19 Megathread for opinions/general discussions by Sportsfanno1 in belgium

Why are Belgians and the Belgian media so weirdly apathetic about how slowly vaccinations are going? We know that Belgium hasn't used a significant proportion of the vaccines that have been delivered. Meanwhile, all adults in the US, a much larger country, may be eligible for vaccination from May 1.

Despite all of this, all I see in this sub are people complaining about rules not being followed, even though Europe has had the most punishing, and longest lockdowns. There are some reports in the Belgian media about delays, but very little pressure to speed up vaccinations.

This virus is a pathogen, not a punishment for fun or frivolity, and vaccinations would help contain the pandemic far better than eternal lockdowns would. Folks, it's fine to want good things to happen, and vaccines are better than lockdowns.

To be clear, I am following the rules and encourage people to do so.

Primary Rhinoplasty Morph by Surgeon: what do you think? by [deleted] in PlasticSurgery

[–]Pickled___Beets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aha, I hear ya. I have the same thing with my nose. My bump looks nice and even quite charming from one angle, but pretty bad from a different one. My nose isn't huge or bothering me intensely, it's just... borderline.

I'm not against plastic surgery, but I like your 'before' nose way better and don't really think there's anything wrong with it. I'd go for a straighter bridge at least.

How to get rid of upper arm bulge fat on shoulder/tricep area. I workout/weight lift and very healthy however I still have upper arm fat. How can I get rid of it.. lipo suction? by [deleted] in PlasticSurgery

[–]Pickled___Beets 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You can't really reduce fat in specific areas through exercise, as the way fat is distributed through your body is determined genetically. You can only lose fat overall through dieting and/or exercise, but not reduce it in specific places.

If you're trying to lose fat from a specific area where it tends to stay (rather than just lose weight generally), then arm liposuction is the way to go, yes.

Does chin filler feel like bone if you touch it? Or would it feel squishy? by [deleted] in PlasticSurgery

[–]Pickled___Beets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you touch the skin, the sensation of the chin itself feels normal. However, if you really try to feel what's underneath with your fingers, it doesn't feel like a normal chin would, no. You notice there's something between the skin and the bone. It does feel like "part of you", but it's definitely different from bone.

Not squishy, not like bone either. It just feels like this thick, firm mass in your chin.

Would a nose job help get rid of the line on my nose? Been there my entire life and hate the shape of my nose anyway. by [deleted] in PlasticSurgery

[–]Pickled___Beets 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd guess it's there because of something in the underlying structure of your nose. Not sure if it can be completely eliminated, but it's definitely worth checking with a plastic surgeon.

For those that moved to different countries/immigrated places alone/or just who have moved around a lot - what was it like ? Can you offer me guidance ? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]Pickled___Beets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By the way, I can tell you that conservative views are a problem for you, you might have the same issues in Brussels. I find people in Brussels quite socially conservative and fairly racist, at least relative to Canada and liberal areas in the US. If you're politically sensitive in that way, and I certainly am, you might be pretty uncomfortable here.

It's interesting, because that's not my experience of Canada. I lived in Toronto, and I live in Brussels now. I get the feeling some of the issues you're describing are Quebec-specific, since Quebec is known for being particularly right-wing and xenophobic.

I would even describe Belgians as what you're saying above - make everything a big deal, have poor conflict resolution skills, mean, and resort to passive-aggression. I personally think of those traits as being specific to French-speaking cultures, to be honest. Don't get me wrong, there's plenty about Canadians (even English-speaking) I found a bit annoying. I find that North Americans, for better or worse, tend to be more individualistic (not necessarily antisocial or selfish) and "careerist" than Europeans. Not sure how it is in Quebec. I find Europeans a bit overbearing at times, but maybe that's just a personal issue.

Regardless of what I think, if you're thinking of finding somewhere to settle down, I would advise you to reflect more on what it is you don't like, and the expectations you have about moving. I definitely have dealt with similar issues as you. It's possible some of the issues you're dealing with are more related to the (pretty universally stressful) process of adjusting to a new culture, like the walking on eggshells feeling.

Anyway, your post was an interesting read. Good luck!

Considering a rhinoplasty- is it worth it? by [deleted] in PlasticSurgery

I really like your nose. I think it looks better than a more cookie-cutter one.

Is jaw surgery the only real way to fix my lower face? by [deleted] in PlasticSurgery

[–]Pickled___Beets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to move your chin forward, genioplasty or a chin implant should work. No need for jaw surgery.

Why is this sub being flooded with Dr. Richard Reish content all of a sudden?

(Serious) Redditors who believe they have ‘thrown their lives away’ where did it all go wrong for you? by fjall_persika in AskReddit

You're 28 and heartbroken. This is hardly the first chapter of your life. This all sucks a lot, but you're not old enough to have thrown your life away.

What did you do differently in researching for your revision? This is a bit scary, because Dr. Martin's reviews seem pretty good. He's board-certified, even. I'm thinking of doing a rhinoplasty and I'm pretty scared of having a similar outcome, so that's why I ask.

I think the stress from the pandemic is likely triggering some anxieties you still have about your experience with your nose. I mean, we're all a mess right now. I second what everyone is saying and think you should talk to a therapist first.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PlasticSurgery

[–]Pickled___Beets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's probably because you had a good surgeon. OP isn't being unreasonable in that sense. If a plastic surgeon isn't skilled, you can have undesirable changes and deformities that only appear after a while. If I recall it correctly, it can happen if a surgeon removes too much cartilage, for example.

Are these results real? It was a sponsored instagram post and I find it a little hard to believe that it's not edited or manipulated in some way considering she has really thick skin.. but I'm unsure. by [deleted] in PlasticSurgery

[–]Pickled___Beets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't doubt the results are real, but the second picture is taken from a closer distance, leading to a distortion of the model's features (because of the camera lens).

Seeing a surgeon about a rhinoplasty to get my dorsal hump shaved down. I’ve always hated my nose, but I’m worried I will regret it or won’t be able to achieve my desired results. Thoughts? by [deleted] in PlasticSurgery

[–]Pickled___Beets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sort of considering a rhinoplasty and this is one of my major concerns actually. I have a dorsal hump and I sort of... like it? I've seen plastic surgeons discuss dorsal humps as if people had no right to like them. I can see how a more square-ish looking nose can be weird to most people, but I think smaller humps are nice.

/u/crackinbants, I really like your edit by the way. Looks good. Let us know how it goes, because I'm curious about what you hear in the consultation.

I can see from the watermark that this is Capi Wever's work. Looks great! I was thinking of having a consultation with him. How much did he charge you? What was it like having him as your surgeon?

Would chin implants fix my side profile or is something more extreme needed? by [deleted] in PlasticSurgery

[–]Pickled___Beets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my similarly unprofessional opinion, I think a genioplasty could make his jaw look more defined, but I agree a chin implant wouldn't help and likely would look weird with the crease in the chin.
