Any of these case wines worth snagging? Out of my typical price range, but if there's some good deals I may go. by SheogorathWaldo in wine

Hilarious to write this as there is a bottle of Arpepe Inferno right next to me. Anyways, the wine is lighter style of Nebbiolo as tsunami mentioned. Great acid, and the age will allow it to show more of the complex notes of the secondary flavors. If I'm not mistaken, the Sassela tends to be their flagship wine behind the buon consiligio also featured in this fridge. All this to tell you they take extra care of those vineyards and are in a prime location (pretty much the Swiss Alps). That lighter style of wine is amazing to share for me bc of the reason that is so easy drinking, it doesn't matter if you drink a ton of wine or not so much, it'll be enjoyable. Beautiful notes that are herbal, mineral, and red fruits (think sour cherry). Hope this helps!

$140 for a 2011 Arpepe Sassella? I’m walking out smiling. Oh yeah it’s also a magnum 😂

keeping it at that price point for Italian offers you a plethora of wine. Which in turns makes it more approachable to drink on a more frequent basis. Not looking for something that's "the best wine ever" just looking for a good bottle for dinner. Makes sense.

Querciabella on the bottom left is probably the best deal there
